Chris Mannix: Boston expressed interest in Erick Dampier during free agency, sources say. May want to look into Damp again. Just no presence in the middle

Looks just like Mannix is talking here. But if he came cheap I would love to throw him on the bench... If we aren't going to involve JO in the offense at all, we could use Damp as some sort of inside presence.

Eric Dampier was and is the guy I wanted instead of G.Stiesma (or however you spell his name).

I think it'd be valuable to have a big body like Dampier as a third string center. Just something different (skill-set wise, physical low post defense) that the Celtics can call upon where needed. Not a regular rotation player just a situational one.

I hate to say it but we need a thuggish guy down low who will put the fear of god in people who drive to the hole.  I don't know if Damp would do that.

Wilcox so far has been unimpressive.  Though he has got some rebounds in his playing time.

I would definitely think so. Throw Stiesma into the D league cause I dont think hes ready. Id rather had a vet like Damp take his spot.

Yeah, I agree we desperately need a presence down low, but Dampier is toast.
