I hope so!  He looks like the complete opposite of Bradley out there.  He appears to be efficient on offense just like Gamble was.

If he turns out as good as Gamble was I would certainly take that.   He seems to have the same smoothness to his game that Gamble had.

Well, they're not really close to the same kind of player.  Gamble played SF when Bird was moved to PF late in his career, as Chris Ford wanted McHale to play the 6th man role.  Ford wanted to run more, with you guards like Shaw, Lewis and Dee Brown.

Gamble was 6'5" and very much a slashing kind of player.  He was a decent rebounder, but not a very good defender.  He could light it up from 18 feet in, and his best attribute was his ability to get to the rim and finish (I believe he shot nearly 60% in 1992?).

Moore is not really built like him, and actually plays with the ball more in his hands (Gamble moved withOUT the ball, mostly).

But if Moore can provide offense, and appears to have confidence to take big shots, I'd see him more of a Vinnie Johnson type of player than Gamble.

Kevin Gamble came from the CBA and even had a stint in Asia.  There are probably a few wings in the D-League who step in and be Kevin Gamble 2012 if given an opportunity.

I was at the Final 4 in 1987....part of that weekend was an allstar game of college seniors whose teams were not playing.....Gamble played in that game along with Reggie Lewis and David Robinson....I was very impressed with his game and hoping the C's would draft him...they tppk Lewis and then Gamble's teammate Brad Lohaus....Portland took Gamble in the 3rd round and cut him.....he was very effective with the C's

I think Moore has the same potential but with a different kill level

Gamble averaged over 10 pts for a good number of seasons in the NBA, and in his best year he averaged 15.  I'm pretty sure if there was a player who could do that in the D-League he would be in the NBA.

I really liked the first KG (who wore Paul Pierce's #34, BTW).

In the early nineties during a playoff series with Detroit I was seated with my wife at a table at Charley's right next to Gamble and his wife/girlfriend(?).  I wanted to talk to him the whole time but I didn't want to bother him.  I just said 'beat Detroit' as he left --- he smiled -- I think he liked being recognized as I think not many knew who he was.

Sounds like Steamer is following Gamble;s career trajectory more closely than Moore is.

If he is Kevin Gamble then they will surely have a microphone next to the rim for every swish.  It always seemed that whenever Gamble made a 15 footer it created this extraordinarily loud swish... as if they turned the mic up just for Kevin!

Kevin Gamble 2.0 would be fun to watch!

Even though we've seen very little of Moore, I think he shows the most potential out of any of the recent (last 4 years) C's draft picks.  I was excited about JJJ initially, but now seeing him next to pros I'm thinking he's way to small to ever make it.  The big question is how many minutes is Doc going to give to Moore?

It just seems like a comparison...late round pick, wing player, good midrange game, aggressive with the ball, probably nothing extraordinary defensively, nice 7th man for several years plucked seemingly out of nowhere for cheap.

Looks like Danny might have a little Red Auerbach in him after all...

Gamble averaged over 10 pts for a good number of seasons in the NBA, and in his best year he averaged 15.  I'm pretty sure if there was a player who could do that in the D-League he would be in the NBA.

There are always players who could be solid rotation players and even starters in the NBA who aren't in the NBA.  It may require the right coach and the right situation, but there are always going to be guys like Wesley Matthews who go undrafted but can contribute if given the chance.  There are always going to be guys like Gary Neal who go undrafted and head to Europe, then come back to the NBA and show they can play.  There are always going to be guys like Chuck Hayes who get cut in preseason, sign on with a D-League team, then get signed to a 10-day contract by a desperate NBA team, then play their way into a contract for the rest of the season, then for future seasons.

Eventually, there's going to be some borderline all-star who spent a season or two in the D-League who will focus all eyes on looking for hidden gems there.  Until then, there is a Moneyball-esque inefficiency that can be taken advantage of by finding talent that gets ignored because some fool GMs think that a quality NBA player can't possibly be found in the D-League unless assigned there by an NBA team.
