He hustles, he obviously is not NBA experienced in the post.  But if he makes a mistakes he tried to make it up with hustle.  Hustle guys are great for practice folks.

no way starting, jermaine looked great last night in limited minutes with no real juice on his box score (excepts blocks shots), he is a GOOD defender
Stiemsma should be on the team as a project but a good young project, he has the true center size which we don't have that much of but to me he is the 3rd string center (4th behind kg)
I loved the pull up or trailer jumper he hit last night, within the flow of game and range!  If he can set solid picks then a pick & pop guy when in the game.  His game is about on par with Semih's but they are different players in nearly all aspects of the posistion, each guy brings something different.  I would welcome either one though in 3rd string spot.  Happy to see more of him and see if he can work on defensive rotations, rebounding and being aware rondo WILL get him the ball at any time.

if you watched him during the second exhibition game, you saw why he wasnt picked up by other teams.

his interior defense is not consistent. he has trouble putting the ball up in heavy traffic.

mostly, he doesnt box out.

the last point is fixable, luckily. he seems to be a good pick up. but starting against the league's better centers he will have big trouble this season.

Even the original poster of this thread admits he shouldn't be starting, but what I like is his attitude and that he has clearly been improving every year.  Some centers are like that and keep getting better and better through their 20's.  A year on this team could help him grow a whole lot more.

Stiemsma could develop into that third-string center a team may keep around on a series of minimum contracts, providing continuity on the bench, and becoming beloved by the fans that one season where he has to step up and play significant minutes for a stretch of 20 games due to injury.

What's his upside, Jason Collins with rebounding and shot-blocking?  That sounds useful.

I think the OP was making a joke when he said that Stiemsa should be starting.

Greg Stiemsa needs to make this roster, though.  He went out and played for his NBA life in these two pre-season games.  The kid earned it.  Keep him, Danny.
