A tremendously unlikely scenario.

Doctors wouldn't risk the consequences of knowing and not telling Jeff Green.

Oklahoma wouldn't risk being caught or knowing and having Green drop dead.

And it is entirely possible it just developed over the last several months since Green passed his physical to consummate the trade earlier this year.

I think they sold us damaged goods. There is no way they were not aware of this problem. Of course because this always happens to the Celtics, we will not get squat from the league.

i'm giving you a Tommy Point for this. actually made me laugh pretty good

I don't think anyone knew of his condition. Thunder offered him a lucrative contract extension, which he turned down. Then they shipped him.

I was going to say the exact same thing.  The Thunder offered him a long term extension worth around $40m and Green turned it down.  They wouldn't have made an offer if they were concerned about his health, and as others have said they would not have kept it a secret based on the seriousness of the condition.

Same thing with Perk, he turned down an extension.  That's a key reason why these two players got matched in a trade; I think a lot of people overlook that fact.

Very likely this happened recently. AAAs happen spontaneously and aren't all that uncommon. They're also not immediately life threatening but are extremely serious if they rupture. It could even be mild and they're doing the surgery so he can possibly play again if all goes to plan. For most of us, a mild AAA may not be treated at all.

There's no way OKC knew about this. As far as I know AAA are predominantly picked up on ultrasound and this would be a standard component of a general physical.  Letting him play with this would be absolutely risking his life. OKC weren't risking his life for a trade.

It's a [dang] shame but no conspiracy.

It was clearly caused by stress due to the lockout.   Therefore, I blame it all on Il Duce David Stern.
