I always love overpaying players on one year deals, at worst we got a great trade chip. Even more so when you have no salary cap space.

I am fine with what DA did.  We needed a team so we could start training camp.  We weren't getting Chris Paul and I am not sure there was any other viable trade for Jeff Green.  It was fish or cut bait time and Danny decided to fish (or cut bait, I'm not sure how this cliche is supposed to work).

Green is a versitile and durable (I hope I didn't just jinx him) player is perfect for our bench this year and maybe valuable as a starter in the near future.  We have our team.  Training camp has started.  Let's stop the trade talk and see how this team looks.  Adjustments can be made later.

Don't think we were going to get better than Jeff Green this year in the free agency market, so why not resign him.

Because he gives us depth at two positions (one better than the other), he can be a spot-starter when they want to give Pierce a night off, and he's a $9M expiring contract at the deadline.  The latter may be the most important reason; that lets us take back what, like a $14M contract in return?

If that is really how it works then Jeff Green could be a valuable expiring at the trade deadline to get us a better player.  Interesting thought.

The standard rule is 90 days or December 15th (whichever is later).  However, with the signing period starting 5 months later, there is a chance they will put in a specific provision this year (like, perhaps January 15th?).

Well, the trade deadline has been moved to March 15, so he can be dealt in a deadline deal.
