Rondo and Green for Dwight, thats y Greens deal is 9 mil for one yr. they get rondo and a 9 mil expiring contract

We would then have an issue at PG.  And no one behind Pierce.

I see you working here and as a fan I could be ok with that deal, but it sounds a lot like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I'm sure we'd be able to bring in a suitable PG for the mini-MLE and next year target a good/great one with our cap space.

The backup wing position shouldn't be too difficult to fill. I wouldn't worry about that when acquiring a canter like Dwight Howard.

How about this....

Incoming Players
   Kevin Garnett
35.5 year old , 6-11, 253 lb F from Farragut Career Academy (Illinois)
14.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 31.3 minutes
   Rajon Rondo
25.5 year old , 6-1, 171 lb G from Kentucky
10.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 11.2 apg in 37.2 minutes
   Avery Bradley
21 year old , 6-2, 180 lb PG from Texas
1.7 ppg, 0.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 5.2 minutes
Outgoing Players
   Dwight Howard
26 year old , 6-11, 240 lb F-C from Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy (Georgia)
22.9 ppg, 14.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 37.6 minutes in 2010-2011
   Jameer Nelson
29.5 year old , 6-0, 190 lb G from Saint Joseph's
13.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.0 apg in 30.5 minutes in 2010-2011
   J.J. Redick
27 year old , 6-4, 190 lb G from Duke
10.1 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 25.6 minutes in 2010-2011

It would actually make a lot of sense for Orlando.  It gets them a top PG in Rondo and a huge expiring contract in KG.  West could step into the PF position and Bass would back him up.

Our starting 5 would be

Nelson (maybe even Billups?)
Ray
Pierce
West
Howard

Bench -

Bass
Redick
Marquis
Green

I think the Bass trade is reason to believe it won't happen. I'm sure DA talked to Otis about D12, but obviously nothing was made of it.

Still, Rondo is better than anything we've heard Orlando receiving for Howard. If we could give up enough additional assets and salary to take on Hedo's contract, I think it's something DA and Otis should both seriously consider .

as a rebuilding piece, both Bynum and Lopez are more valuable from a GM's perspective than Rondo.

I disagree. Lopez and Bynum are not great players. If Bynum wasn't playing in LA (with Gasol, Kobe, and Phil), he wouldn't be nearly as overrated as he is. They both have size, but Rondo is a proven superstar.

You really believe rondo is a "proven superstar".

Are you in complete denial. If he was that Chris Paul would be on this team in a straight up deal.

Rondo is a very good player with holes in his game that can be exploited. How have you not come to terms with that yet after all of this?

I am sure DA will make an attempt as well.  He has to do his due diligence and explore all options, but it still seems unlikely to me.

I do think picking up West and Bass opens the possibility of trading KG. For example - what if he jumped into the LAL deal and got Pau Gasol for KG and a future pick.

C: Gasol/Wilcox
PF: West/Bass
SF: Pierce/Green
SG: Allen/Daniels
PG: Rondo/Dooling

The other thing is that Rondo and West together are about the right price to trade for a superstar. Next year.

How about this
Boston Receives
Dwight Howard - 18 Million
Quentin Richardson - 2.5 Millon

Orlando Receives
Kevin Garnett 21 Million
Avery Bradley 1.5 Million
And 3 first round picks, ours, the clippers that we own the rights to, and one more. And Orlando gets younger and some pics and also has one year of KG just as they do with Howard and we get Howard and Richardson who is not a bad SG/SF when healthy.

not feeling Q-Rich at all, dude has nothing but hate for our Captain. Dude is a scrub imo right now in his career. Straight up dirty player at most times. I agree that he was a pretty good shooter, but not someone I'd like on this team.

This offer would be rejected even in a fantasy league...let alone in real life scenario where Otis Smith could lose his job for making such a trade.

Celtics announced the Jeff Green deal officially.  I don't think they can trade him for 60 days or whatever it was (and whatever it is pro-rated to in this shortened season).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Stephen A Smith was on one of the local sports radio shows on Friday and was asked the chances of Danny Ainge landing Dwight Howard.

So what's the chances of the Celtics landing Howard in a trade?

Smith: None.

What about if the Celtics end up getting Chris Paul now that he isn't going to LA?

Smith: None.

What about if the Celtics end up getting Paul sign him long term and try to sign Howard in the off season?

Smith: <sighs> None.

What about if....

Smith: <interjects in exasperated tone> None.

Now I know Smith's reporting can be erratic to say the least but he is tight with many, many NBA stars and I got the feeling he was pretty well informed regarding Howard's desired destinations and destinations he would never, ever consider.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I'm sure Danny wouldn't ask, but he just isn't coming. And honestly, I think it's possible to build a contender without signing 3 max deal players and leaving no cash left for a quality bench. Miami will ride their big 3 into the ground, and if one of them gets injured (especially James or Wade) they are 100% screwed. Let Howard go to NJ, he and DWill will make the playoffs and exit in the second round until they get more help--they'd be a couple key pieces away from being truly dangerous.
