This shouldn't be surprising. This isn't anything new to Rondo, and its not like the rumors are the C's are trading him for garbage. He is the centerpiece of an offer for a top 5-10 player in the league.
In the past, Rondo has used things like this to fuel his desire to compete and prove everyone wrong, and I would be surprised if this does not work out the same way.
That is one reason I kind of hope if the trade does go through he doesn't end up in Indy, or anyplace else in the East. Because he will play harder against the C's (and Chris Paul, who has already been his biggest nemesis) than any other team in the league.
