Last week, Kobe Bryant offered Allen the ultimate compliment during a question and answer session at UC Santa Barbara.

When asked to name who defends him the best, Bryant responded, “Tony Allen. He’s not the biggest guy, but he knows how to guard you.”

If Tony had been playing Wade instead of Ray/Delonte we win the Miami series. Wade made huge baskets down the stretch.

Epic miscalculation by Ainge not giving Tony the extra year or a few more dollars. This team is built on defense and Tony was our best wing defender. I remember even Dickerson saying that Tony wasnt leaving Boston. They tried to lowball him and he walked.

We couldn't score against the Heat with Ray at SG. With Tony Allen at the 2 we'd have scored even less. Having two non-shooters in the backcourt against Miami would have been disastrous.

People tend to forget that the series essentially was over when Rondo went down. Tony wouldn't have made a difference.

Tony was good, but I think we would've had to have a perfect offseason last year to beat the Heat, meaning:
     - No Rasheed retirement
     - Tony Allen resigns
     - With Tony there, no Perk trade
     - Shaq stays injury free

All those things together though killed us, but you can't tell me a roster of

PG) Rondo, West, Bradley
SG) Ray, Tony, Wafer
SF) Pierce, Daniels, Pavlovic
PF) KG, Sheed, Baby
C) Perk, Shaq, Jermaine

(I assumed the Cleveland trade would've been done because teams would rather have vet's than rookies)

TA always played Wade well, and in hindsight it would have been wise to keep him for the sole purpose of making the team stronger in it's quest to get by the Heat.

Unfortunately, GMs can't use hindsight and TA seemed determined to make a move if the Cs weren't going to make a real strong offer to him.

TA was an unforced error on Danny's part last year--and probably a bigger error than the Perk trade.
