I think it would be an interested thread topic (one I just don't feel like posting at the moment), whether a lost season might actually benefit the C's in the short-term and long-term.
First, a lost season would decrease the likelihood of injury to our older players and increase the likelihood of rejuvinated legs in 2012-13. KG and RA would be UFA's but still with allegiance to a team they both really want to stay with and win with. Not to say they wouldn't leave for the right opportunity, but both could wait out the C's FA signings and then sign nice 1-year deals with the C's (assuming the new CBA will still have Bird rights). Imagine signing FAs that would allow KG to come off the bench at 20-25 MPG in 2012-13.
Additionally, the C's will have their current rookies (JJ with a year to bulk), Avery a year older (albeit without any additional NBA experience), and another draft to add more youth. Paul Pierce with a year to mend I think will help his career.
In addition to how this could help the C's, the Lakers and Heat also miss another year in their windows.
For those like me who fear that 2011-2012 is going to be a last gasp for the C's resulting in another early exit and depressed departures by KG and RA, a lost season may be just the right medicine for re-energizing this team and simultaneously not missing a step in the rebuilding process. I'd hate to miss a season, but there may be a blessing in disguise for the local team.
