If he fills in at center once and a while I'd be ok with that. But as a starting center? No. I hope he gets minutes though. Id love to see him develop early and let KG teach him the ways until its time for him to step into KG's role. What a great mentor. Love the pick and can't wait to see what happens with it. I just hope Doc give the rookie minutes right off the bat, which he has struggled to do in the past.

Johnson could end up starting at the four with KG as the Center, however this is only in the event of injury to JO and the backup 5 we sign. I think he ends up playing Big Baby minutes from two seasons ago, but giving us more.

He is not Jordan, who is an athletic freak but not very skilled. JJ is not as athletic big or strong. However, he is a much offensive player. Fans will love seeing him catch all the alley oops Rondo threw to KG their first year together.

Well, we're half way there

I see JJ being more of our own Taj Gibson....athletic defensive power forward who can block shots and contribute on the offensive end

if he can give us what Taj Gibson gave the bulls in his first year, i'd be more than happy

Was there another player in history that could play the 3, 4, and 5?
Cause I think JJ can play all positions. He's shown flashes of playing like Kevin Durant

Offensively it's not wise to feature KG at the 5 unless it's in crunch time. You don't want to take him away from those sweet spots at this stage of his career. For instance, we watched him wear down in the Miami series while trying to consistently establish post position. That works to the detriment of his stamina, which hurts his outside shooting touch. Nevertheless JJ should be given time with the starters and using him as a non traditional, athletic center could be an experiment Doc may be thinking about. He does have a post up game, and would catch on a lot faster playing alongside KG ... and we know what his defensive quarterbacking did for Perk.

JJ starting could also put less of a strain on Jermaine. Now if Davis is resigned and perhaps they make a run a T. Young or Batum, they compromise size, but gain more length and athleticism along with Green on the front line. JJ may not be finishing games or be able to defend legit centers like Howard, but spotting him starting minutes the 5 makes sense.
