First, I am going to define "contender" as a team projected win their division and win no less than 2 rounds in the playoffs.

Based on that, I think to be a contender, we will need to trade Rondo and get back value including (or otherwise acquire) a PG with more scoring.  We could not score at the end of close games.  We are too easy to defend in that situation with Rondo on the court and West is a back-up, not a crunch time contributor.

Two other solutions would be Rondo comes back next year able to shoot or Bradley experiences off the chart development pace.  I don't put the likelihood of either of these very high.

Better offense from the center spot would accomplish the same thing, or possibly just having Rondo look for his own offense a little more.

Yes, better offense from the Center is an option but I prefer to have the better Defender at Center and the better Offender  ;) at PG.  Besides, as it looks right now our centers next year are JO and Nenad.  If that isn't offensive enough for you, what is.

We would benefit from a lockout shortened season to be sure. I would bring everyone back except Glen Davis and have Troy Murphy and Nenad Krstic take his minutes. Jermaine O'Neal becomes the starting Center and Shaquille O'Neal goes into the background. I like the idea of bringing in a Reggie Evans and a another good winger that isn't a budget buster. Any deals that get done I would think have to on draft night before the CBA expires June 30. After that, I think the rules of trading and FA signings change drastically.

The beatings will continue until morale improves

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Pretender, in the same vein as Orlando the last 3 years. Pretender as I see it is a great regular season performer a flawed team thats eventually exposed in the playoffs. our flaw is a lack of a go to guy. We dont have a guy who can take over games. when the team offense is in trouble we dont have a fall back. As much as we look down on Hero ball it can really save your butt come playoff time.
