Syracuse and Pittsburgh have applied to join the ACC

In what is seemingly a preemptive strike, Syracuse and Pittsburgh have reached out to the ACC about joining the conference.

Edit: It appears that they have already applied for membership.

I kinda hope BC just drops out of the A.C.C.  There's no way they'll ever compete with these other schools in basketball, and recently they've had trouble against them in football, too.

Also of note, Baylor and Iowa State have approached the Big East about membership should the Big 12 fall apart.

I'm a Cuse fan and I would hate to see them leave the Big East.  I'd prefer the ACC as destination over the Big Ten, which they were rumored to be flirting with a couple years back, though. 

What's really troublesome is it looks like we're heading for 4 super-conferences, with the Big 12 and Big East the odd men out.  What a mess that will be for scheduling and competitiveness.  Especially since it's football $ that's driving this mess and they'll barely be able to play half their own conference in a season.  Ugh.

Yup it's all about money... unfortunately.  College athletics all together IMO have become all about money and I don't think that's the way it should be. 

And along the lines with College Football being the 2nd most popular sport in the country now, that is a shame too because I believe it's become too popular for it's own good.

I'm just saying I don't care.  As a BC fan and former undergrad, I don't see any of that money.  I just have to watch the crappy teams get beaten around by higher caliber opponents every year.

I'm not disputing that.

I'm just saying I don't care.  As a BC fan and former undergrad, I don't see any of that money.  I just have to watch the crappy teams get beaten around by higher caliber opponents every year.

BC needs to step up it's recruiting. 


The problem of course is the academic standards it holds it athletes to.  That kills many teams ability to compete.   


But BC is where a lot of college programs wish they could be right now.  Inside one of the possible super conferences.
