Rondo for Howard

Most of the talk has been on trading Rondo for Paul.  Why not consider trading Rondo and Green for DHoward.

If Orlando views they can't resign him this could be a good package assuming green is resigned.  As long as they aren't looking to attach Arenas, I think it would be a good move.

D12 with the big 3 would give us a title shot next year.. I think he would love playing with KG and Howard is the perfect player to take the pressure of KG and bring some athleticism upfront with rebounding.  

Resigning him would be dodgy but if the KG decided to stick around a couple years and take less money I think Howard would have to consider it.  

Finding a capable point guard would then be the main concern for the off-season along with an athletic wing like batter.

Who knows maybe he and Chris could team up after the year?

I just think we need to go all in next year if he intends to keep the big 3.  It would be a gamble but it could bring banner 18..  

I will await the slamming that will come from this post.

only thing though is I am not so sure Orlando would want a PG in return because they already have a relatively young borderline all-star PG with Nelson.

They probably prefer a package of Odom and Gasol or Bynum

I'm sure the Magic aren't going to surrender Dwight without including either Arenas or Hedo in the package. So, if you accept that you're looking at a package of Rondo and Ray for Howard and Arenas/Turkoglu.

I don't have a problem with getting rid of Rondo and Ray for Dwight Howard, but that extra player is what makes it tough to stomach. Which is why I think CP3 is the more attractive option.

Right I would have a hard time stomaching either Arenas or Turk.  How many years left on Arenas's deal?   Maybe if he got start minutes with this group he could be serviceable.  Still don't like him. 

Just hard not to salivate at the idea of KG and Howard clogging up the paint.. 

KG is on the downside of his career but his defense is still stellar and would be going forward.  He really needs to play with a physical Center who has some low post moves.  He just seems to excel when he can pop out at the elbow and drain jumpers.  Same reason he said playing with Shaq is a dream earlier this season. It just gave him so much more freedom on offense.

Gilbert Arenas makes 22.3 mil in 2013/14 (I have a feeling he won't test free agency and keep his 20.8 million dollar play option in 12/13)

Hedo Turkoglu has a player option of 12.2 mil in 2013/14

If I'm Otis Smith, I'm standing in the tunnel at the stadium, and I'm refusing to move Howard w/o getting rid of one of those two contracts. Even if he made it clear he had no intentions to stay in Orlando.

Yikes.  What a mess Otis created last year.  Should have just kept Lewis and Gortat last year.  All they needed was a pass first point guard..

Yes, I think eating Turks contract is the only possibility but we'd need to throw in Ray and possible JO which wouldn't really matter..  Would kill any chance of being a player in 2012 for CP3.

yea that's true. Thats why the Rondo for CP3 deal makes so much sense.
New Orleans gets a young all star PG who has a very good contract for the next 4 years along with other young players(Green or BBD) and picks. Exactly what they would want in return for Paul

For Boston Chris Paul becomes the man surrounded by other aging stars that can transition into elite role Players

Me too.  But I think the Magic would prefer a young big man like Bynum or Lopez over Rondo, since they already have a solid PG.

I'd take on Arenas if it meant Howard though in that scenario I wouldn't give up Green.  Rondo, Allen, JO for Howard and Arenas.  I'd even throw in a couple of picks (the worst of our 2012 picks (unprotected since we keep the higher) and our first in 2014 (protected of course)).  I'd even consider Hedo if I had to (by adding Davis or Krstic in a sign and trade).

I think Howard would sign an extension under that situation as the C's would still have Green as a young guy to pair with Dwight and PIerce still has 3 years left.

I don't think he'd be willing to sign here under those circumstances, and I wouldn't take on Arenas' contract without getting Jameer Nelson back.

Frankly, I don't think the Celts have nearly enough assets to trade for Howard.  I am thinking that Orl will want a big man for Howard and all signs point to Bynum (and perhaps Lopez).  I really don't think many other teams will be in the running if Orl decided to trade Howard.

The only chance the celts really have is if Howard makes it to FA.  And even then, I am thinking it is a long shot.

Yeah an all-star PG is a small price to pay for an MVP caliber center of his age.

I don't really see how such a trade would work out however.
