What do you think about this guy:

I think he would be a great value late in the first round.  You could save money by letting BBD walk.  We need athleticism inside and KG being around for one more year could really help this guy develop.

That word "desireless" in terms of his defensive focus makes me pause.

Looking at that mock draft, and not knowing a thing about him, Jordan Williams sounds like the right guy to take.

I like the kid.

Good writeup on him...he definitely needs to add a few pounds. The writeup mentioned his lack of attention on the defensive end, though....I suppose that under KG and Doc's tutelage, he would excel in that regard.

Our own Jeff Green is already showing signs of progressing defensively - but it takes time.

With that being said - Time - is not a commodity that we have a lot of with this group of Celtics. That's why I think Danny will try to go more with an established player (Big Al or a slimmed-down and injury-free Glen Davis??).

We already know that Doc is not too keen on rookies, so unless this kid hits the NBA floor running on all cylinders (which rookies rarely do nowadays), I'm not sure we'd get him.

I like him but he would a reach at 25. A lot of mocks have him going later in the 2nd round. That obviously could change because some people are going to fall in love with his athleticism in the workouts.

My thinking is:

a) your not going to get a polished player this late in round 1

b) he's 23, so hes not some 19 year old kid that needs to develop physically

c) we need to have a physical presence inside, he is at least athletic and kg could mentor him

d) markief morris probably wont last much past 15, if at all

e) some of the other pf's like jordan williams or jon leuer are very unathletic or an athletic guy like jajuan johnson is too skinny.

f) BBD is too short and cant protect the rim

I also like Durrell Summers in the late 2nd round.  Pretty good athleticism/defense.  Maybe he could become a good defender at the NBA level.

Both of these guys are 22+ seniors, so at the very least they have a lot of ncaa experience, they arent kids.  Maybe by the 2nd half of the season, Doc would trust them on the court for limited minutes.

bbd is an ok player but in order to win the championship you need better than that...he has to go and we gotta find somebody who can be a little more forceful around the basket and on defense

I agree--though I don't know that he'd still be there for the C's pick.

He'll be lucky to get drafted.

I know the latest nbadraft.net mock has him going at #24, but JaJuan Johnson is the power forward we should hope to get.  Knows how to play defense, and can score both inside and out.  He might not be a superstar, but he is ready to be a solid NBA contributor from day 1.  In what's generally considered a weak draft, that would be a fine thing to get.  We can save our future superstar dreams for next year, with the Clippers pick (hopefully!) and a deeper draft.

Doc just signed long-term.  That means he's ready to show a little patience again.
