What a ratings nightmare....

I do think that Memphis can upset Dallas in 6 games and make history....
I don't think that Atlanta will come out of the East.

Would be great for the local/regional economy...but for the big markets such as Boston, Miami, NY, LA......0.0 tv share.

I think this has a fairly decent chance of happening.  I think Memphis closes out the Thunder and will give the Mavs a heck of a series.  Atlanta matches up well with the Heat, though not so much against the Celtics.  If it can beat Chicago, Atlanta would have an excellent shot.

Outside of Boston, those are the two teams I'm rooting for.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Both teams lack shooting and offensive execution, relying heavily on iso sets and post-ups.

Honestly, I can't think of many potential Finals matchups that would feature an uglier brand of basketball.

thankfully, it's very unlikely

It's a near impossibility that Atlanta wins the East. There chances are something like 1 in 10,000.

No, you're missing out on something here man...

If Memphis makes the finals, it literally does not matter who they play, EVERYONE will be watching.

Only 3 other 8 seeds have ever upset a 1 seed to even make it out of the first round. None of those teams have EVER made the NBA finals, ever, actually I'm fairly certain none of them made it through their second round.

All Memphis has to do is win the next round and they'll already have gone farther than any 8 seed in history. If they somehow manage to become the first 8 seed to ever make the finals... wow.

You're telling me that won't get ratings? Come on...

Knicks in 1999 when they faced the Spurs in the Finals

Knicks made the Finals in '99 as an 8 seed.  It was the weird lockout season but there is a precedent.

I think Stern's already depressed that it seems he'll never get the Kobe/LeBron Finals he's always wanted.  I guess his puppetmaster skills are slipping.

Maybe Stern doesn't mind horrible ratings if he can point to them as a reason the owners need a lot of concessions from the players in the impending labor negotiations.

They way we played last year that was our chances of getting to the Finals going in to the playoffs.

Hawks are playing well it is not out of the realm of possibility like the Lakers for instance (hahahaha!)

That's why it would never ever happen.

AND a new conspiracy theory is born.

Actually, Stern definitely doesn't want small market teams making the Finals this year, because it will weaken the owners' arguments that small market teams can't be successful and make money with the current system.

Well, then, Stern should want the Celtics to win....big market team which he doesn't think is as big of a ratings draw as the Heat or Bulls.  Come on, commish....rig this puppy.
