I'm really happy for him after being an assistant coach for 21 years.

Well deserved.  I was actually pretty skeptical of Thibodeau being a good head coach; I thought he'd always be best as a defensive assistant.  It shows what I know.  He was excellent this year, getting guys to buy into his scheme and keeping the team together when Noah and Boozer missed large chunks of the season.

Good for him. He should get it. And if we can't win it all then I'm pulling for the Bulls. I like there coach and they have Duke players.

The Bulls went from 10th to 1st in defensive efficiency in one year. Impressive.

It's also impressive that Thibs did this with such a young team. He doesn't strike me as a "player's coach" (which often means "soft").

Well deserved.  Maybe other stupid teams like the Knicks will take note and realize that it's defense (a word Mike D'Antoni has always found repulsive), not offense, that wins championships.

Actually, hopefully the Knicks never realize that...

Great news for Thibs, he deserves it.  He did a tremendous job in Chicago - without injuries they might've won 67-68 games.

Well deserved.  I was actually pretty skeptical of Thibodeau being a good head coach; I thought he'd always be best as a defensive assistant.

Yeah, remember last year when Doc got ejected against the Rockets (?) and Thibs forgot to put in any subs for like a quarter and a half?  I really wasn't big on his chances as a head coach, at least in the first year.  Thibs proved me wrong too.

Thirded. An incredible job by him. He helped turn Rose from a below average defensive point guard to one of the best in the league, if not the best.

Everything i read says that rose is one of the worst defenders on that team; they have good team defense despite him being a bad defender still.

I don't buy it; so much of that is reputation.  People talk about Rose and Boozer both being bad defenders, and yet they're both starting on the best defensive team in the league.  I simply can't accept that.

For the record, in terms of individual defense, Rose's man shoots 37.2%.  On iso's, opposing point guards are 32.8% against him.  Spot up shooters average 31.5% shooting against him, and the pick-and-roll ball handler is converting 39.4% of the time.  He allows 0.77 points per possession, which is 24th in the league (and tied with Tony Allen).

Well done, Thibs. That's the most deserved COY title in years.

I can't wait for the Celtics to knock out Thibs, Scals and the whole Bulls team, though.
