MIAMI - Heat guard Mike Bibby gets right to the point.

He played poorly in the first round against the Philadelphia 76ers [team stats]. He admits it.

Now, it’s time to move on. The Heat will need more from Bibby if there is any chance of getting past the Boston Celtics [team stats] in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

"I didn’t really do anything," Bibby said. "Like I said, my comfort and confidence level wasn’t really there. I felt pretty good, I was just missing shots. That’s not going to go on forever, and I know that. The main thing is I can’t stop being aggressive."

Bibby, who was acquired March 3, attributed the struggles to adjusting to playing with a new team for the first time in the postseason.

"Just not being certain what’s going to happen and stuff like that," Bibby said. "The confidence level wasn’t there and it showed. It happens, but you’ve got to move on. It’s a new series. It’s going to be a tough series for us and I’m going to do whatever it takes to help them."

They should give the ball to Rondo every time down the floor

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

Doc is thinking the exact same thing
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yes, the key is Rondo pushing the ball up the floor, but the key to that is the rest of the team running with him ... if they don't, Rondo's effort will be fruitless. This team has to run together to be it's most effective, and the bench has got to produce more than it has been.

It'd be better for them to start Anthony

Mike Bibby shot 6-28 from the field. 21% FG% and 3P%.

19 of the 28 shots where three pointers. So 2 for 9 from two point range. No free throws.

6 turnovers in 100 minutes.

I don't see him defending Rondo.  I think we see Wade on him early and often.

I could see Lebron taking a shot at him too, depending on the unit they have out there

Well, if wade guards rondo, I am sure that it will be ray who gets the honor of  beating bibby like a rented mule.  :)

I like the idea of bibby trying to guard ray.  That means a LOT of open looks for ray, and in NY he made the most of those opportunities.

And I want to see how wade does stopping rondo from going to the basket. Hopefully wade will pick up a couple of quick fouls.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

There is an offensive plus out there no matter what the defensive alignment is with Bibby.

It's simple really. They have two plus defenders, therefor they can only impact two of our stars.

Whichever perimeter player is not guarded by Wade/LeBron needs to expose them.

We need KG to win his matchup.

JO is the best C in the series, and Shaq would be right there with him if/when he returns.

Our bench will define this series.

It's really just a matter of executing.

They have good team defense, but individually they don't have the right players to stop us, or at least enough of them.

Rondo and Ray need to be very active like they are when they are hot and not get complacent. We know the Pierce/LeBron matchup and what to expect. Bosh is in for a surprise with a playoff-intensified KG. JO and BBD have to prevent as many off. rebounds as possible.

ray allen is going to have to hit some open 3 pointers...if he starts nailing them it creates lots of problems for miami...if he is off and missing them then it affords miami the luxury of containing rondo...and we don't win if that happens.

I can't see them putting Bibby on Ray, because Ray is both too elusive and can shoot right over him.

I suspect that Wade or LBJ will shift to Rondo only when Ray or Bibby is out. But that still might be 15 minutes/game.

I think the biggest advantage we will have at PG when Bibby covers Rondo is going to be indirect. Bibby is going to have to play really far off Rondo. This should allow us to bring the ball up quicker and get into our offense fast, which is extremely valuable given how good the C's are at using the 3rd or 4th option on offense, and being patient. Having an extra 5 seconds on the shot clock gives our offense the chance to get to that 3rd or 4th option without rushing. That might not show up in Rondo's numbers, but our overall efficiency should be higher.
