Here we are on April 28th, with both of the local squads making their way into round 2 matchups.  i don't think anyone here expected a sweep of the knicks whereas i'm sure many of us bruins fans were less than suprised to find the B's/Habs in a game 7.

So with both Boston teams sitting at 2-seeds going on the road against 3-seeds, the question is who is in better position to advance to the conference finals?

IMO, the Flyers, who are battle-tested and cancel out a lot of the bruins strengths, pose a huge issue for the black and gold.  Meanwhile, the C's take on a Heat team that has not proven anything together and who, individually, have not been able to best the Celtics in years past.

My prediction: the Bruins (it hurts to say) will fall in 6 to the Flyers while the Celtics beat the Heat in 6.

What y'all think?

Tough call.

I actually like both Boston teams chances in their respective conference semi-finals.

Regarding hockey, Philly isn't exactly firing on all cylinders heading into this series much like the Bruins.  In the regular season, the Bruins had some success against the Flyers.  If somehow the Bruins can tighten up their offense & figure out their power play, I like their chances.  However, those are two big "ifs".

Heat worry me but I still think that the Celtics are the better team.  I'm a bit concerned about the layoff although I think the rest was needed.  MIA seems to be playing with a bit of a fire inside them and I expect a long, drawn-out battle.

Answering the original question, I guess toss a coin for me.  If I had to choose, I'd probably saw that the Bruins have a better 2nd round matchup but that's based on their potential which isn't the best thing to base things on where you're talking about the Boston Bruins.  :P

I like the Celtics history vs the Bruins history.

This year, both teams have motivation and the Bruins got lucky in a Game 7 OT against Montreal for a change.

I would say both are very compelling matchups.... and the winner of both, I think go to the Finals...... That would be a historical 1st to have a City play for both a Stanley Cup Championship and an NBA final in the same season.....
The beatings will continue until morale improves

The problem i see with the Bruins is that they just don't play sound, efficient hockey.  Don't get me wrong i love watching them check and throw their weight around, but when you look at how teams like Philly/Vancouver/Detroit play hockey, you realize just how far off the Bruins are.

The Celtics, on the other hand, play some of the most efficient and effective basketball in the game today.  What they lack in athletisizm and pure speed they make for with terrific execution and playing within their means.

That's why i'm confident in the C's no matter who they play, whereas the Bruins rarely ever harness their collective talent to its capacity which makes them very unpredictable and therefore vulnerable.

I think the Heat are a better team, and thus are a tougher opponent.

At the same time, the Celtics are a tougher team than the Bruins.

I think both are going to be close series.  I'll say Celts in 6 and B's in 7.

The New York Knicks and Rangers both played in their respective championships in 1994. Maybe it was done before then, I don't know, but I still remember that May/June, even though I was only 9 years old, it was that wild of a time for the city.

Blackhawks and Bulls did the same in '92.  Bulls beat the Blazers and the 'Hawks lost to the Penguins.

Both NY series went 7 games, how ridiculous is that?

8 days, 2 winner-take-all games.

Obviously the Knicks lost, but only after the Rangers ended a 54-year drought.
