Summary: If the Heat win tonight, we play in Miami on Sunday. If the Heat lose tonight and win Friday (I would be shocked if Philly won three times in a row), we still play Sunday in Miami. If there's a game 7, it'll be Tuesday.

Why we should care: If they win tonight, they will have three days to get ready for Boston, and no travel. If they lose tonight, that guarantees they will only have one day to get ready/rested, AND if they win on Friday then they have to spend time and energy flying home from Philadelphia.

It might not make a huge difference, but it's playoff basketball, and every little thing counts. Go Sixers!
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

It will make a HUGE difference. Preparing for the Celtics is a hard thing to do, especially when you have no one to deal with Rondo.
And keep this in mind, Miami is thinking about Boston, even if they deny it. Philly wins tonight, that all changes.

That would be awesome, though. Celtics would be fresher than my newly aquired laundry and the Heat would be like my air forces ive worn everyday for the last year.

Honestly, I think the C's sweep either way, but if this series goes 6 or even 7.....The c's will sweep.

Miami/Philly going 6 (or even 7) would  be great for the C's.

Besides the scheduling benefit for the C's of forcing Miami to travel back from Philly with no real time to prepare after a Game 6, we also get to rest.

Let's face it, our guys are old.  The more rest our guys get the better.  With the way our guys seem to flip the switch, I'm not too worried about them losing their rhythm from extended time off.  The more rest guys like Pierce, Allen, KG, and JO get the better. Plus I'm still hoping Shaq comes back, so the more time off, the better. (Although I guess technically our guys don't get any additional rest if it goes 6 instead of 5 - since either way the the 2nd round would start Sunday, only if it goes 7).

It's just so nice to finally be in this position for once, instead of the way it's basically been the last 3 years, with going from a Game 7 right into the next series.

Miami's stars already seem gassed at the end of close games from carrying the team the whole night and playing 40+ minutes, and it's only the first round.  They may be young, but 40+ a night can quickly catch up with those guys if they have to play back-to-back grueling series.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Plus, I know its been over a month or 2, but everyday Jeff Green gets to practice is a good day in Celtics nation

Even though Miami has a decent lead in the 4th right now, I still wonder (and hope):

Would you rather the series go 6, so Miami has to fly back from Philly and then go right into playing the C's?

Or would you rather the series go 7, so Miami has to play 7 games, but they would already be home in Miami (and possibly a little more rested)?

Are the C's better off with Miami having to travel from Philly (game 6 win) or have the physical and emotional drain of playing a game 7 in Miami?

I personally would prefer the series going 7.

I think we're likely to come out rusty no matter what happens to Miami.  Long layoffs for a vet squad tend to do that.

But I definitely hope Philly can keep pushing them here.

Good game, But lets be real here Celtics wouldnt blow such a lead in the first quarter so quickly, and would have closed better. Not that the heat even closed well.

This series I actually feel confident in them winning. KG will handle Bosh like his pet and Rondo will have a field day. If Shaq(which I'm hoping for) comes back and he's healthy, this team can get them in 6. I say 6 because with those three, there is no way that they can't win at least 1 or 2 games. The bench has to step up though and while I wish BBD would stop talking so much, I feel extremely confident in the Celtics bench if they show up and turn it on.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
did anyone see how amped the Heat bench was after beating the 8th seed? Game 5 they were losing it on the sideline.

Compare this to the Celtics who swept the number 6 seed and walked outta the building knowing they've got a lot further to go.

We are going to crush these fools.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
