If Doc leaves after this post-season run (which seems pretty likely), I think the Celtics should give Adelman a look.

Maybe. I think I'd prefer the continuity that Lawrence Frank might provide.

That's too bad...Yao could've certainly helped that situation. I like Adelman as a potential coach here, but not until Doc is done.

Thanks for the post.

Not me.  I'll take the better coach.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Adelman is a good coach, but I don't see him on our bench. I also don't buy into Frank taking over--it would be the second championship calibur team he'd inherit (remember his good Nets team), and I don't think he could command enough respect/attention from the players. I think it'd be like his final couple seasons in NJ all over again. Danny has someone in mind, and it may not even be McHale or anyone else mentioned so far...

This is great news from Hasheem Thabeet.

Adelman was never going to play a center like Thabeet in his system. An awful fit in Adelman's offense which requires his big to be quality passers / decision makers and Thabeet's defense is too much of a work in progress to make up for it.

Thabeet needs a coach who will play him guaranteed minutes (20+mpg) and give him the game experience he needs to further develop his defense at the NBA level. Hopefully, Houston's next coach will do this. It would be a shame to see Thabeet waste away on the end of someone else's roster for another few years.

On a related note, I imagine Thabeet's lack of playing time and Adelman's complete unwillingness to use him was one of the disagreements the two (Morey and Adelman) had about Adelman's coaching style.

Adelman is a pretty good coach. Houston had one of the best offenses in the league this year, and that was with Yao out and the multiple injuries besides.
