with the loss to Miami in the books, and as we drop the number 3, i'm curious as to whether that is already decided. are we surely (or 90% chance) ending up with the 3 seed? or is there a good chance for us to get the 2 seed since we own the tiebreaker over them?

Both teams have two games left. Miami are one game ahead in the standings.

Miami will be playing Atlanta and Toronto, both on the road, with being highly likely wins. The Celtics have Washington and New York which are also highly probable wins.

So Miami have to slip up. Best chance for that to happen is against Atlanta ... but it's very unlikely that happens.

I think ATL has a better shot of beating MIA; it's also a back to back for MIA, though day-night and not long travel.

But TOR surprisingly has beaten many good teams this year;

BOS DAL OKCx2 ORLx2 CHI

Right now, I think we are best suited at 3, because with the remaining schedule in mind, I don't think New York will stay ahead of Philly. But then again, if NY wins only one game against CHI or us, Philly can win both games against ORL and DET and still NY would be 6, because they have a better record in their own division.

Here's a good article about playoff seeding and tiebreakers: Link.

Id rather play Philly and let the Knicks and Heat go at it in the first round. I know Philly is a better team but the star trio of Melo, Amare, and Billups bothers me more than the Heat for some reason.

We're going to be the 1st round team no matter who it is.  I doubt the C's are concerned about this matchup at all.

But with seed 3, our path to Finals is @MIA @CHI @Western Conf Champ.  We basically had the same path last year and came up short.

Unless... New York wins against Miami. And there is a chance. That's why we want Philly. There's also quite a good chance Orlando beats Chicago. They almost did it yesterday without Howard.

Yeah, the game to watch is tonight versus Atlanta.

I don't see them losing to Toronto.

Yeah, and given the potential let down of the final game in the season, I think that game is nowhere close to a given.  This Miami team has shown they can cruise with the best of them.

Of course you could say the same thing about the last 2 C's games as well.

I am more interested in the Lakers though.  If the C's win out, and the Lakers drop another game (perhaps San Antonio?), then the C's would hold home court over them.

New York is slightly scary...that's a lot of offensive firepower that can get going at once if they're feeling it

If New York even gives them the slightest scare, I hope they put them out of their misery.  I have no interest in watching this team be torn apart in rounds 2 or 3, which is exactly what would happen if they can't knock the Knicks down easily.
