The post-game quote from KG to the question, "What was it like for Doc Rivers to call he and his teammates soft?":

"That really wasn’t cool at all, but Doc has a way of motivating us in more than one way. He knows how to push buttons and get guys to respond. … If he has something to say to you individually, he’ll say it … but I don’t think there was a guy in the locker room that was feeling that. We told him after the game, ‘Don’t ever say nothing like that ever again.’"

It seems to me like a true "doctor" motivates, inspires, heals and delivers.  Glen Rivers is doing none of the above and we're seeing it in KG's comments.

You need to re-read the quote. KG said, "but Doc has a way of motivating us in more than one way. He knows how to push buttons and get guys to respond."

KG's point was that the team wanted to prove him wrong. He motivated them. They took the challenge personally.

Doc Rivers is a great coach, plain and simple. I rank him right up there with Nate McMillan, Pop, Van Gundy, Scott Brooks as my faves.

If Doc is being driven to say this to the media, then he must not believe that the starters are handling business on their own.

I love KG...but what else would he have Doc Rivers say? What would KG do if he was in Doc's shoes?

To be honest....when I saw the comment from KG:

"Don't ever say nothing like that again"....I was shocked...I mean, who is the coach?

I thought it was Doc. I still believe it is Doc, and he's a great one.

I edited my post, Edgar :).

To me, there is a reason why Pat Riley was rumored to be interested in Doc Rivers a while back.

To me, as I look around the league at the other elite coaches....none of them have had to deal with big trades....numerous players passing through the franchise (Sheed, Marbury, Nate, Posey, PJ, Mikki, Shaq, JO, Semih, Luke, Sasha, Wafer, JG, etc)....

He's dealt with numerous injuries.....despite it all, he's still limited the starter's minutes.

Doc has dealt with it all. Yes - he gets paid well to deal with it, but with all of the moving parts over the years, we have 1 Banner, 1 finals appearance, and another deep run without KG.

To me, that is a great coach.

Doc was calling it(soft team) like it is and results don't lie. His team needs to toughen up. You are right about Doc needed to be accountable, but maybe for his floor combinations. Doc can't just sit by watching as leads disappear. Doc has decided to stick to the same substitution pattern even though the teams different. Also his fault because he's the one who wanna give go aheads and vetoes to bad trades(This isn't about Perk). He should of noticed the play of his team when Semih was on the floor. Now what, he looks like he's having kittens dealing with both Krstic and Baby. You got just like the fans by disregarding team stats and what works. Knowing full well you had four all-stars playing with Semih and Shaq, you asked for change you got it. Yet Avery Bradley like Pruitt and Giddens, will have completed their rookie seasons with team, but not Erden or Luke. So don't fix your lips to say your team is selfish now. Fix the problem.
