If we're going to compare Krstic and Perkins, one of the important statistical categories is healthy knees.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that Jermaine O'Neal appears in more playoff games than Kendrick Perkins this season.

Hopefully you're right. I heard Perk was going to be playing in a few games.

No Perk vs. Krstic argument is relevant for the trade without the words "Jeff Green", "Nate Robinson", and "currently injured".
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

They're both role-players. From that type of player, defense and rebounding is a lot more important than offense. Offense starts offering diminishing returns. There's a limited number of possessions to use but in every defensive possession you need 5 guys to defend.
Offense is supposed to be played with all 5 guys on each possession too if you are sharing the ball and not playing iso. There is no diminishing returns. Also offense and defense couldn't be separated, they affect one another. For example if you turn over the ball less you give less chance to opposite team for high% transition offense and this increase overall quality of your team defense.
In Clippers game Krstic & Garnet have been the only healthy bigs on a team and couldn't allow to be fouled out with no backup. And Clippers had enough of big bodies (Jordan, Caman, Griffin) to play with more energy and to rotate them better to be more fresh.
Also, from the trade the only game when Boston was inferior in rebounds was against GSW (and all difference was in offensive rebounds).
Up to this point Krstic extremely overachieved in Boston's uniform. And he is still learning rotations and plays. We need to wait minimum few more weeks before any conclusion how this trade affect Boston.

  • Rondo = Good
If there's one thing that worries me most about trading Perk, it's the potential chemistry hit.  I'm already concerned that Rondo is dogging it a little bit because his best friend got traded.

I agree on this - on paper I've been on board with the trade since the initial shock wore off.  It stands a strong chance of making us better this year and a stronger one of improving us in the future.

But beyond actual production, Perk was a big part of the soul of this team.  One of the biggest strengths of this team seems to be their ability to feed off their own energy, and Perk was always a major part of keeping them playing hungry.  It's going to be tougher to replace Perk's scowl than his defense, if that makes any sense.

I did really like seeing Jeff Green calling out rotations and picks from the bench last night.  He's not going to give us the same attitude Perk did, but that's a very good early sign for fitting in with this team.

To play devil's advocate to my own point, however, I'd question the extent to which Perk could really provide much in the way of attitude to the team from the bench.  His health for the rest of the season was and still is a big question mark.  We don't know how many games he actually would have played for us, and how many minutes he'd have been able to play.

In '09 we all learned the hard way that even if a player has a gargantuan presence on the floor, they can't still lift the team up (at least not much) when they are barking from the bench in a suit.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Much as I dislike the comparisons also, (as Perk and Krstic are very different players alltogether), people are entitled to their opinions, and have every right to compare whoever they want to compare, in any way they wish to do so. :)
Don't get all Constitutional on me Bakhu! That is a living breathing document. If we want to take away the right to feeling we can!

That's what I used to think also, then I went to see it and found that they keep it in a total vacuum ... it was just dead parchment, and it never took a single breath! (I stood there watching it for a long time). More propaganda and lies perpetrated by our government! ;)

Does sound like Perk is almost ready to play again.  Should be interesting.

I wish him best of luck.  I think his stats will go down a little but I wish him well.   I am not a Perk hater but rather a realist who thinks he will never be the same player again.  I think Danny shares this assessment and it seems that he goes with the medical outlook of the player.  Happened with Leon too.

I looked us % of BLK this year 2010-11 and its down to 2.5%.  I believe this was ommited from the earlier stats posted which were from prior healthy years where he was blocking one in twenty shots its now one out of fifty.  That translates to  .8 BPG. I think the C's saw the dip in stats and didn't want to take a chance on the gimpy knees.

The good news is that Krstic isn't really our first guy center.  He is a stop gap folks.   I think Shaq will be the man who makes or breaks us in the post.
