We have Rondo locked up for 5 years at a below-value contract.

Williams, a max-level player, can opt out in 2012.

Nobody else in the trade matters, and since the talent of those two is basically a wash I'd have to say that's a bad deal for the Celts.

Other than Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo, CJ Miles is the best player there and an important rotation player to the Jazz.  If they are going to give up those two players, they're going to want Rondo and expiring contracts.  I know it's only two years of salary for a lot of those guys, but they'd be paying a lot of money for no production.

Of course the celts do this.  No way Utah does this.  Why would they?  They've had winning seasons for 22 of the past 23.  This is not a team that rebuilds; they retool.  This trade is an immediate downgrade in talent with no clear future benefits to reap.

Why give up Rondo who is making 10 million a year for the next five for a guy like Deron Williams who will be a free agent?

Do you really want to overpay for Williams? Is he that much better than Rajon. This trade doesnt make any sense.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat. Did you see Rondo on the Lakers game Thursday night? He was awful! He takes WAY too much time dribbling the ball and his shooting was horrendous.

Now, I will say this. Ideally, I would hang on to Rondo and wait 'til D Williams is a free agent in 2012.

Though he's a point guard, I think he'd be a great 2 guard for the Celts and would play well with Rondo, after Ray's contract runs out.

No way DWill plays 2 next to Rondo. He needs the ball to be effective just like Rajon.
