I've always been a big Perkin's fan from day one. He's tough as nails.
But even more important to me is that Perk brings a "nasty" edge onto the court. Guys like Perkins, Posey, Powe, TA, Reggie Evans, Rodman, Artest, etc - these guys are a different kind of tough than KG, Shaq, Pierce, Rondo, Kobe etc.
They're what I call "nasty" tough - they are guys that just get up into you all game and it's a real physical war every time you get on the court with them.
And that element that Perkins brings is going to rub off on "everyone" on this team. Shaq, KG, Baby, Pierce - they will all get a little nastier now with Perk bringing that edge back. It's the smae thing as KG bringing that intensity level to the team - Perk bring that nasty level to the team.
Once we have Shaq, Perkins, KG and Baby getting physical and owning the paint, no one is going to really want to go in there for 48 minutes, including Dwight Howard, Bynum, etc. They will go but they won't be looking forward to it.
Then you get Pierce, Ray, DWest and Rondo running around on the perimeter? It's over.
I said it earlier this year, if we are 100% healthy going into the playoffs and we stay that way, it's not even close - we raise #18.
All the pundits say Lakers dynasty...KG go injured and they got Chiwawas in '09 with the Magic and they won. Last year we had KG at 75% and we lost Perk and they still "barely" beat us with home court advantage. The Lakers are good, but they also had some good luck on their way to two titles.
If we're healthy, say hello to #18.
