Surgery to do what?

Standing at his locker, O'Neal fielded every single question thrown his way in regards to his ailing left knee. The soft-spoken former power forward turned center seems to be just hanging on at this point in his career, and it all happened so fast.

So he fielded all the questions asked...did anybody ask him what the injury is and what the surgery would be?

maybe it's just me, but that's what I was most hoping to find out.

Yes, that is extremely bizarre. Maybe he is taking a cue from KG and the C's.

It can't be a tear, because he would have had surgery to begin with, unless it was very minor, but we still would have heard about it.

A sprain, bone spur, cyst, or an infection?

It's hard to talk about "the injury" when it doesn't exist. Okay, I'm sort of joking there. But I think it at least represents some of our sentiments about JO.

Oh, I think his knees are bad. I'm just frustrated that they aren't being straight about it. personally, it sounds like the cartilage is gone to the point where he is getting bone on bone pain, which could explain the not being able to walk up the stairs kind of pain...

not sure what kind of surgery helps this though.

anyway, I really would love to see JO be able to play. I think the does help with his shot-blocking off the bench...

There is something called SYNVISC, which is an injection that lubricates the joint. I think it is some sort of synthetic cartilage that lasts for a few months. Not sure exactly. I'm sure JO's docs would know better lol.

Supposedly Kobe and Roy are having the same problem. Kobe has been playing with it and Roy had surgery. JO is obviously much bigger and heavier than both, but there are two cases with different outcomes.
