Nice. All of our starters are either 2nd or 3rd in voting for the ASG.

KG, Rondo & Shaq are #2 and Ray and Pierce are #4.

Honestly I was surprised to see that Rondo got more votes than Rose, I thought that Rose would be more popular. But I'm glad Rondo is ahead, it would be great (and well deserved) for him to start!

Glad to see the others C's doing well too, KG is way ahead of Stoudemire.

I think if all five of our starters somehow got into the game they should let the unit play together for a couple of minutes against the west.  that would be awesome to see.  But I doubt shaq, if selected (he wont be voted in because of Howard) will play in the game.

I love KG and love that he is in second play right now... But with all due respect, Amare deserves a starting spot. i dont care if you like him or hate him, he is playing like the MVP of the league right now and I just think this further showcases the problem with Fan All Star voting...

With that being said I am still rooting for Celtics to make the team.

Offense is only half the game, Amar'e is far from an MVP.

KG is scoring 1.05 Points Per possession compared to Amar'e scoring 1.026 points per possession. Now Amar'e takes more shots, plays more minutes, and certainly carries a bigger offensive load for the Knicks.

But he's also a disaster on the defensive end of the floor and is sub-par on the glass. Especially since he's playing almost entirely at the Center position for the Knicks.

Consider that even by PER, which over rates scoring, KG is close to Amar'e stil. And by other metrics that value net possessions more than PER KG blows him away. And none of these measures account very well for defense.

You can make a case for either player in the end, I guess that is my point. Amar'e is playing fantastic the last few weeks, but I don't think the choice is clear cut.

It'd be great to have our starting five making the AS team.  But I never even had the thought to play them as a unit, that would be even cooler.

I wonder if a starting 5 has ever made it in the "modern era".  By modern I mean after expansion; I wouldn't be surprised if it happened when the league only had 8 teams or so.  But I'd be really surprised if it occurred say after the ABA merger.  Possibly any of the C's, Lakers, 76er's, Pistons teams?

The starting five for the 2004 Pistons made the team, no?

No, 4 of the Pistons made it in the 2006 ASG.  Billups, Hamilton, and the two Wallace's.

Yup, Tayshaun Prince never made an all-star team. For good reason, it was cool to watch Pierce play with that line up in 2006 All-star game though. Looked more like a real team than the game ever does normally.
