How about Dahntay Jones for the back-up 3 position? The Pacers have a ton of wing players and are looking to get rid of him and he's plays good D plus he's familiar with the team since he was in training camp with the Celtics in '08 only drawback is he can't shoot the the 3 but I feel he could be a clone of Tony Allen without the boneheaded turnovers. He's 6'6 with great athleticism maybe Danny can swing a trade with old friend Larry for him, What do U think?

I suppose he could be similar to Tony defensively but I'd kind of prefer a better shooter.  He might be more reliable than Daniels, though.

I'd rather sign Rodney Carney to a minimum deal.

Carney is the superior defender, the superior overall player and would have the better contract.

Golden State already signed him a couple weeks ago.

Oh, I missed that ... thanks.

Strange signing for Golden State. Not the type of player they usually go after.

Looks like a bad move for Carney ... I don't see him getting playing time there. Likely another wasted year of his career.

Carney is not that good.  Just an athletic freak like GMoney.

He doesn't need to shoot with scorers around him. This can work out before training camp ends. C's can find out who we'll do without. Hey, he can D and would be at least healthy to compete (cough Marquis). But they are serious potential trade parters.

We don't have a lot of trade assets, assuming people don't want to trade BBD.

I suppose we could do LaFayette + Gaffney + Harangody, with the Pacers cutting the first two.  That saves Indiana $2 million, and gives them a young local product at a position of need.

That deal would be worth considering.  Jones is more likely to help this year than Harangody is, even though I like LH's potential to eventually be a rotation player.

I like Dahntay's aggressive D and would feel alot better having him behind Pierce along with Marquis. It's not ideal but it's not bad.

Although I am pretty high on Luke Haragody, and I expect he'll suprise alot of people, as he has at every level thus far.

If I gave him up I'd want someone better than Dahntay back, maybe like a Corey Brewer level player...

Still, I really hope Luke is lifetime Celtic. If he pans out, he could be a rock solid swing guy for us. He's got a motor that won't stop, he's got a street brawler's mentality and he's talented. He's a pure pug; perfect guy to be a Celtic, just like Delonte.

  • Rondo = Good
I'd much prefer to have Dahntay than Marquis (he can shoot somewhat, Marquis can't), but as others have said I'm not sure what we have to offer in terms of a trade.

If they wanted Luke I'd do it, Luke may one day be a rotation player, but unless he can play the 3 (and that seems rather doubtful), he doesn't have a place on this team right now.  His value on the team at the moment is as a backup PF to replace BBD if he gets signed elsewhere for more money next summer.

wouldn't trading Bradley make more sense b/c we have far too many guards?

Dahntay would add a wing, and make Marquis expendable in December along with BBD for a better wing is DJ couldn't hold up as Pierce's backup

Ray - Wafer/West
Pierce - Dahntay/Quis
Can't stop, Rondo!

Bradley has way too much potential to trade for such a limited player.

If you want to trade a guy who can play D, shoot, dunk, and learn the point for a SF that can't shot then why not; but sounds like a bad move to me. Especially since Quisy and Wafer are both far better all around players. Doc and Danny want shooters.
