  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
We have about 5 rotational/starting quality big men and just about all of them are better then Dampier. We don't need another big to ride the pine. The SF or wing position is a much bigger need.

Would I like to sign Dampier? Most def

But we can't for 2 reasons - 1. Shaq and him hate each other. So he calls him Erica Dampier.
2. We still have BBD.

Now, if we traded BBD for a real SF, then sign me up. Say for instance Corey Brewer. He has shown some distaste for another losing season this year, and we could give them a future 1st rounder and 2nd rounder. Then signing Dampier would make PERFECT sense. JO plays behind KG, Shaq/Perk/Dampier all share the Center title

Rondo - Nate - Bradley
Ray - Wafer - Quis
Pierce - Brewer
KG - JO - LukeG
Shaq/Perk - Dampier
Can't stop, Rondo!

From watching Damp.at Dallas over the years,it seems like for every good play he made two bad ones followed.I never liked him as a player period.(IMO)

Amen.

Mrs. Banners and I were behind the hoop when the C's played in Dallas last February after the trade with the Wiz.

Dampier was absolutely aweful.  One of the most entertaining aspects of the evening was the actual Mavs fans that were heckling Damp for missed rotations and assignments before the play even developed because he was THAT predictably bad.

His unguaranteed deal was for $12 or 13 mil, NO WAY does he sign for the minimum with Heat, us or anyone. There are plenty of teams with cap space and $$$$ and need out there. No South Beach for Dampier!!!

I disagree, I feel he will sign with a contender to win a title at his age

Agreed.  Especially since he'll have the oppty to start for the Heat (either him or Zydrunas will start at C, I'd imagine).

To C's Fan Since the 60's: Damp had a notoriously bad contract... that's like a less extreme example of saying Eddy Curry wouldn't play for a lesser deal after next season.  Or Elton Brand won't take less than his current contract eventually.

Damp will take his best opportunity at this point in his career I believe and that would probably be in Miami, both in regards to PT and championship opportunity.  If he didn't start, he'd def get minutes either way.  I'm sure he has to be enjoying that overpaid money he got in Dallas for years so at this point he should be less worried about money.

Doesn't sound like he's signing for the minimum anywhere. Sounds like this guy is in it for the Benjamins and not the ring. http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68836/20100825/dampier_deal_to_come_after_sept_13/ Can't really blame him, but if it were I, as you guys have also suggested, if I had made all that $$$$, I'd go for the ring (Cs, Heat, Lakers) for the minimum. Guess he doesn't feel the same.

"Charlotte hoped to waive Dampier to clear cap space and then sign him to a more inexpensive contract, but the veteran didn't agree.

He has a $13 million non-guaranteed contract."

bobcats trying to trade him now, they won't be able to find a trading partner though so he will be waived in a couple if weeks, I hope ainge signs him for 1 year vet minimum.

i'm surprised he hasn't been waived yet. Wasn't that the whole point of acquiring him from the Mavs? To get cap relief because his contract was mostly unguaranteed? oh well.

If he's available and he'll sign with us for the vet min (which i doubt), i'd trade BBD in a heartbeat because 1) he can get us some value in the wing position and 2) we would have too many bigs.

If Miami gets Damp, we are screwed!!!! Damp took perk to school once, they hate each other.
Plus Damp is a respectable Center, and miami does not need anymore help, he will put them over the top.

That is why we have Shaq.

KG/JO/Shaq/Glen(and Perk eventually) > Bosh/Damp/J Anthony/Haslem.

MIA getting Damp doesn't make them much better, even though I like Damp as a center.
