I would trade Chandler for Big Baby ONLY IF the Cs can get someone like Craig Smith to come via vet min or S&T.

For example:

1) Trade BBD for Chandler & Walker;

2) Trade Sheed's deal to the Clips for Smith (2 years, 7mil), either Butler (2 years, 7mil) or Novak (1 year, 2mil) or Mardy Collins (1 year, 2mil), and cash.

Ahh Wilson Chandler, the poor man's Andre Iguadal, who is the poor man's LeBron James.

I like him as a bench player but still prefer Josh "Bong Ripper" Howard

The main difference between the two guys is age and health, two categories that Josh Howard clearly loses in. Chandler's only 23, and still has a lot more room for improvement in his game. The perfect player to start taking more minutes so that Pierce can stay rested as he continues to get older.

You are prbably right considering Howard is no guarantee to look like the same player after ACL surgery

With you. Chandler is nice. I'd be very happy to have him.

SSpence, As a BC fan I would love to see Smith.  Can i ask though why he is a perquisite for a chandler trade in your eyes?

Because I think we'd have to give up Baby to get Chandler, and I a) feel that Smith brings some comperable skills to Baby to the table, but is a better post player and defensive rebounder, and b) think we can't really afford to give up that skill set on this team. We need good wings, but we're also thin on toughness down low.

That might be where Harangody comes in. I really do think that having both Luke and Glen on the C's is going to be a bit redundant and one is going to be traded sooner or later.

Luke+Gaffney+Lafayette could match a 1 to 2 million dollar deal...that's Chandler territory. The Knicks cut G+L and have an undersized, cheap, good young player to develop...or trade...if they are still looking for immediate cap space for more deals.

Baby+G+L could match $5.7 million...that's Chandler+Turiaf! Now the Knicks have an undersized, but proven young player to play or trade.

a retiring Sheed would count as a "premier outside shooting big man", so no, we don't have a shot.  Not every trade is a salary dump.  They are trying to improve their team.

What if we could work out a deal evolving around Sheed, and Perk's expiring contract? Count me as one of the few people on this board who is not optimistic about the chances of a guy with the body mass of Kendrick Perkins coming back from a torn ACL and being half of the player that he used to be... :(

The good thing about Perk is that he was never truly athletic. Knee surgeries tend to make players lose their 'explosiveness'. Perk's game is based on brute strength, which with time and rehab, he will regain.

On Perk:  A touch of lateral quickness helps in the post, too, which may not come back.  His major advantages in the post are certainly his..ahem...bulk?  But also, he has very long arms, which allow him to get blocks and deny easy buckets [compare his reach to BBD].

And he'll be a FA after this year, so he might not be gone shortly after his rehab anyway.

Perhaps Danny might gamble and try to extend Perk on a modest-priced deal this summer, and if he doesn't bite, use his expiring contract as a trade asset?  That might clinch the decision for me, were I DA.

"Premier-shooting big man"....

I'm betting on Brad Miller getting a 3/$30M contract before the end of the week....

Antoine 5 years/Max Level

The Knicks know a good deal when they see it.
