So the link above explains what the Blazer's are offering.

They were going to trade him to Portland to get under the cap but took care of it with a previous trade.

They were going to trade him to Portland to get under the cap but took care of it with a previous trade.

The proposed deal had Portland sending Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick to New Orleans for Paul and Emeka Okafor.

That would have been one of the worst trades in nba history. They were basically going to give Paul away.

As much as I loved Rondo I would send

Bos sends:Rondo, Sheeds contract and BBD , future picks

NO sends :Paul and okafor

I came up with the idea a few days ago in another thread and now I am seeing it as a rumor... that the Nets could trade Devin Harris and Derrick Favors for CP/Okafor.   That deal makes a lot more sense to me.  It's a heck of a lot better than the crap Portland is offering.   The Nets could offer Harris, Favors and a ton of expiring contracts... have CP, Okafor and Brook Lopez ... and have enough cap room to bring in Bron.  Depending on which expiring contracts they gave up, they'd also have around 8-9 mil to give to another player... Ray Allen?

Why in the world would Ray agree to that?

Some people don't seem to understand that Allen would have to agree to a sign and trade.

He has stated that he wants to stay in the East/Northeast and compete for a title, that rules out NO with no Paul, and ownership that doesn't have championship aspirations.

in additon New Orleans doesn't have a need for Rondo with Collison.  The only thing that even makes any sort of sense is if the C's were to find a team that wanted Rondo and would give New Orleans something they wanted.  Perhaps a combination of the Portland trade.

Portland receives Rondo
Portland trades Bayless, Przybilla, Batum

New Orleans trades Paul, Okafor, Posey
New Orleans receives Bayless, Przybilla, Garnett, Batum, Sheed, Bos 1st

Boston trades Garnett, Rondo, Sheed, a future 1st
Boston receives Paul, Okafor, Posey

New Orleans saves a bunch of cash and gets some solid young players as well as a future first.  Boston gets a better PG and a younger big man (allows some more flexibility with trading Perkins for a PF as well).  Portland gets a young exciting PG to pay with Roy, Aldridge, and Oden, and doesn't give up quite as much as they would have to land Paul.

If your Boston you just have to decide if the team really has a legit shot next year, if you think it is possible but far from likely then you make this trade as it better positions the team going forward.  If you think there is a real possibility next season then you don't make this trade (though I'd think even after the trade there is still an outside shot next season if Perkins comes back and Pierce and Ray can still get some solid play).
