Jeff Van Gundy
Originally he was my first choice but with thought I want to back off that statement.

Van Gundy is historically a slow it down defensive coach. In my opinion if Doc leaves so will Paul and Ray. If Paul and Ray leave we should try to make the change from slow down team to up tempo team that features Rondo. Van Gundy isn't the ideal coach for that system.
DKC:  Rockets

  • You say when......
Heyyyy, home-boy Vinny, he is from good old Springfield..just like me....I know his father, don't know vinny, but he might work out here..he did pretty good in Chicago, but Chi traded the best guard, then expected vinny to do miracles...with rose and an average team...miller....?

I actually feel if doc leaves then danny needs to get a completely different sort of guy.  Bill Fitch sort of, guy who will fire the vets up not be their buddy (no disrespect to doc on that).  Even if only for a few years, might be the kick in the butt this team needs....scott skiles sort of guy.

I think Danny will base Doc's possible eventual replacement on who we have on the roster next season. If we have our core veterans returning with a Miller or Shaq type addition then we have a coach that 'they' (the veterans) approve of, a tactician like Van Gundy or better yet keep Doc. If we are in 'blow it up' mode then we have a Del Negro or Frank type guy that can teach young guys.

The coach will fit the team IMO, not the other way around. If the Vinny D rumor is true, then the direction of the team is pretty obvious.
