Thursday, game 7 Boston Celtics v LA Lakers.
I am a young fan but I can tell you this game will be the most important game of my life ever. Basketball is my favourite sport, Kevin Garnett is my favourite player and Boston Celtics is my favourite team.
I have been a huge KG fan, I came to the Celtics with him 3 years ago. When he retires, I will continue to be a Celtics fan and will no doubt love Rajon and future players.
Coming along with KG, I have learnt to love and embrace the Boston Celtics and the culture here, it's amazing and wonderful to be part of. But, I have to admit the passion I have for the Celtics then will not match the passion I have for this team with KG right now. As we all know the 'window of opportunity' is closing for this team right now, some argue we still have next year, but, that's next year.
Winning in 08 was great. But now, on Thursday, as far as I'm concerned, will be the last realistic meaningful finals game KG will play in this uniform and have a chance to win another ring for himself (there's just that much difference between sitting on the bench winning a ring in a few years time as opposed to contributing to win). Over these past years, I have just learnt to love this team so much, and go thru the ups and downs and experience my first taste of victory as a fan, I don't think there was or will ever be another team that I want to win as much.
So while Boston will have many more banners coming in my lifetime, this one, banner #18 this year, would be the most meaningful to me. And fittingly, it's game 7 against the LA Lakers, how much bigger can a basketball game really get?
And here's to a great game and may the best Boston team win
