Quote
Andrew Bynum is battling a knee injury, but he vows to play in Game 5 on Sunday“It’s a little bit frustrating, but I’m going to play on Sunday, play hard on Sunday,” Bynum said Bynum said the pain isn’t the problem, but the swelling was so great after Game 3 and early in Game 4 that his muscles couldn’t fire properly to move and jump About playing through the pain for the final two or three games of the season, Bynum said: “That’s what I’m going to have to do. I’m prepared to do it.”

Good I want Bynum to play because I want to beat LA at full strength.

But also because Bynum deserves it.  The guy has great heart and determination and deserves to play.

I get that he wants to play and help his team win but he really needs to leave playing through injuries to the durable players.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Not true at all.  His team is much better when he plays.  And it's the Finals.  I respect him greatly for trying to play through the injury.

ditto.

I want him healthy and playing so there'll no excuses from Laker fans this year if the C's win this series.  He's had a bigger-than-expected impact for the Lakers.  his absence would not take away from a C's victory but it does cheapen it a tad.  BUT, to paraphrase a Laker troll from a little while ago on this site in rebutting the argument of LA's win last year deserved an asterisk due to KG's injury: "how is it the fault of the winning team that the GM didn't adequately staff his team to deal with injuries?  It's the GM's fault for not having an adequate backup at center. It's a team game and the best constructed team won"

I agree with Mike but won't go as far as Slam, because Bynum, semi healthy in games 1-3, was too much for us to handle on defense and really hampered our offense. He's really good when he's healthy. If he's 100%, I bet it's 3-1 right now, and C's definitely lose the series. I will happily take him hobbled and do NOT want him healthy.

Good.  If he continues to play like he did in Game 4, he's a liability.

Yup. He played 12 very mediocre minutes with no lift last night. Gotta run when he's in the game.

Yeah, and he played in Game 4, too.  I don't think he's productive from this point out.  He should sit out because he may do long term damage to himself, and he isn't able to help his team anyway.

If by some chance he plays in Game 5, then I doubt he can go two days later for Game 6, and he'll be totally hobbled (if he isn't already) by Game 7- which won't happen cause Celtics are winning in 6).

Injuries are part of the game.  I don't care who is out there for the Lakers as long as we win.

Go Celtics.

A kill is a kill is a kill. It's not one teams responsibility to make sure the other teams health, and especially not the fan bases... no one on Boston seems 100% anyways. And Bynum hurt his own knee, get in the gym big guy. LAL only has three big guys - this is their mistake, you'll notice the C's have had a four man big rotation since forever, and then a bunch of depth. Last year not only KG went out, but Perk was hurt, Powe (3.5th big) was out too. That's what got us into the Miki Moore and Scal zone.

So if Bynum plays we have to run full court and then drive on him in the half court. Defensively if he doesn't have lift and strength, it may mean KG can play him instead of Perk. I think Perk has been handling Gasol just fine.
