Sorry for the new topic but I was watching the ESPN post game interview with Nate and he was thanking Doc and Danny for making the trade, and he said he hopes he's here to stay.

Awesome!  I really like this guy, would be awesome if we retain him.

Can't say I'd  mind.  Nate + Big Baby could be a nice bench combination for us moving forward.  I think Nate is finally starting to fit in here, and we've all seen the benefits of that over the last couple of weeks.

  • LETS DO IT AGAIN!
Next year is so open.

The C's were so G'dam lucky to sign glen Davis for so cheap.

Ray may be going to Miami...

Nate has made his mark and raised his value...

Nate can only play in the playoffs against select point guards.

He said this after our clinching win against Orlando too, I believe.  It was said then that it may have just been the high of winning a game for us that made him say that.

He said it a second time though.  If he really does want to stay, he'd be crazy.  Yes he feels loved and that's great because I like him a lot, but he's behind Rondo.  Rondo is going to play (at a minimum) mid 30's every night, and pairing Rondo with Nate is murder on defense.  Plus, they both need the ball to create.

The only ways I see him staying are A) he gets money in the range of ~$5 million, or B) he is offered a starting role.  His career will be stuck being the Celtics backup Point Guard unless (God forbid) Rondo goes down with injury.

I don't think Nate cares. Plus in the regular season it doesn't matter.

The fans, coaches, and players have made a place for him.

I agree he'd be nuts to want to stay here. There's teams out there that would be willing to pay him more and play him 30 minutes a game. He'd not only be a backup here, but be a backup to a 23 year old star. But if he truly does want to be here and will accept 10-15 minutes a game, sign me up. He is the perfect scorer from hell off the bench. And under the constant tutilage of our veterans, he can only improve on the other areas of his game.

If he really wants to stay, why wouldn't the C's give him a decent contract?
You have to have someone who's a spark off the bench, and he's certainly that. He can hit the three, the leaner/floater, and drive. On D, he's always going to be 5'9" so there's only so  much he can do, but he's an athlete and can be adequate.
I don't know anything about Nate off court- his attitude and behaviour, etc.- but if he's not impossible to deal with then why not?
BTW, let's just enjoy this series and not worry too much about next year yet.

which team can offer him a starting spot? which team can offer him 30 mins a game? I'm confused, I don't see any team that can offer him those roles. Everyone knows that he is at best a scoring spark off the bench which isn't a bad thing. If a team is crazy enough to offer him more than 4 mill. a year, then I say let him go. I would give him a eddie house salary, maybe a bit more, but not close to the 5 mill. figure some of you are guessing.

Anyways, Nate has already experienced playing alot of mins and putting up alot of shots on a bad team, now that he has a feeling of winning on a cohesive team, do you think he'll want to go back? I think he's more then happy to stay on a winning team while playing 15-20 mins a game. Also, I think Doc is one of the first coaches that understands nate, and they developed a relationship that makes me believe that he will want to come back.

The Lakers?

Phil Jackson was highly complimentary of Nate's game back when he was with the Knicks.

I think he could be trusted even more as he gets more accustomed to the defense.

If you remember correctly he was actually playing better pick and roll defense than Rondo against ORL.

BUT overall Nate Robinson against any backup PG in the league is madddd deadly. #wordaapp
