That's giving a lot of props to the Lakers. He knew they were going to be in the Finals.

Good prediction... It would have been funny if the Celtics played Phoenix and had to call the Staples center to be like, "Uh yea, hi... Doc Rivers here. I know the seasons over, but uh, yeah i need to get into your locker room.... For what? Um no reason, just...Need to..."

I can only imagine Doc trying to get my crew to give up $2600 cash on the spur of the moment.  He'd be hiding about $26.50 and some gum.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
They mentioned this during the game last night, as well.  I'm curious what happens to the money that Eddie, J.R., and Walker chipped in.

Have another.  What a hilarious thought.

Cut to camera of Doc in sunglasses, leaving Staples Center looking sheepish as he stashes the envelope in his pocket.
"What's in the envelope Doc?" ask the papparazzi.
"Look, its, er, nothing.  um, i gotta get back to Phoenix for a game.... see ya"

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Apparently they were content with getting their cash back and that was about it last night...  If I'm Doc, I would have waited to tell that story AFTER game one's result...

Yes and no.  You'd think if the money lasted this long, there's a decent chance it will still be there next February when they come to play the Clips or Lakers.

That's not a problem because Eddie, JR and Billy were traded to the Knicks the day before the game. They weren't at Staples for the game so they didn't give money to Doc.

Funny story, Doc really is a great motivator and he always has cool ideas.
