I think Doc goes this year. If he comes back next year I don't think his heart will be in it. Losing Tommy Tibs, aging Vets, Sheed caring less by one year, Rondo one year better and butting heads more.

Let's say he walks now - goes to TNT with Marv to make most of the pay, but without the grind and as much road time. Get's to help his kid through senior year, etc.

Now in three years his kids are all grown up - the wife and he can go wherever.

Now in three years his kids are all grown up - the wife and he can go wherever. He didn't taint his championship shine - he can come back wherever he wants. If he picks a strong location - he can win a championship again or two, and that puts him HoF.

If he stays and things go bad without Tommy Tibs - it could start to bring about a lot of the old questions about his ability. Essentially Tommy Tibs would be the Belicheck to his Parcells... especially if Thibs has success. (DA and Thibs were the front office / coaching keys to success.)

UPDATE: the only overwhelming reason to stay would be if he is going to do another long run. Coach through the rebuild, etc.

I wonder if Danny would go back to the bench for a two or three years, well the teardown happens...
