Paul's a smart man who knows he's getting older. I believe that this is more than confidence he's displaying blatantly, it's also drama he wants to create, knows he can backup so he'll be engaged with the fans more and hence, less likely to be traded as a result. (last year of contract next year, Ainge known to want to trade old players whom still have some value) He went to All-Star weekend with foot injury not completely healed. Yes he wanted to attend the parties and it was his every right to go since he may not have to many more All-Star appearances (though resting at the time might have been better for the teams title hopes), but he also wanted to win the 3-point-shootout contest which he did successfully and compare himself to Larry Bird whom obviously played his entire career as a Celtic. This is Paul's Superbowl Shuffle. lol. (we need more June Gatorade Poured on Doc!) Anyways, keep it up Paul, it's working on me.  ;)

Hey look - it's not like we totally put the Magic away and cruised to victory. Carter does a huge choke job and J.J. Redick experiences temporary amnesia to secure the win. Yes, Paul played great. He was clutch.

For some reason this year playing at home has not been the huge advantage that it should have been. In game 3 against the Cavs the home fans allowed our team to lose by the biggest margin at home in team playoff history. That was less than 2 weeks ago. What has happened to change the possibility that the unthinkable happens and we see a performance similar to that or we lose?

The player's role is to produce, not make predictions. I think (and I may be in the minority) that it was foolish and immature to go talking about closing them out and telling Orlando fans see ya next year. What is the reason for doing so?

We all hope that Paul and the C's back up Paul's words, but what if they don't?

You know that you would never ever see old school Celtic legends act that way. They showed it on the court. They let their play do the talking for them. That was enough.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think firing up the garden is not at all a bad idea. Home Court should feel at home..I don't think it's out of the question to think the Celtics don't always feel as comfortable as they should on the parquet.

Do the fans at the Garden really need PP to fire them up with his words?

Were our fans NOT fired up for game 3 vs Cleveland?

Could we not get MORE fired up? I dunno, I wasn't there, but every advantage helps, and I think Orlando gave us all the effort they had in game 2...and a few calls either way or a missed basket here or there (or made FT's on Vince's behalf) and they take that game. If the garden is more rockin, I won't be upset.

I don't know about anyone else but I want my team and it's players coming back home with a killer mentality and Paul's words were exactly that.  It wasn't trash talking or putting the other team down. It was firing his team up.  It was saying hey, we want to put this team away at home in front of our fans and we went our fans to hold us to the highest expectations, which we know they will.
Classless?  Hardly.

I guess he could have said, well gee, I don't know what will happen once we get back to Boston I just hope we might be able to win a game or two and I hope our fans will be behind us no matter what and if we have to come back to Orlando at least the weather is nice and other than our familys being harrased and tassered in the stands it's been a fun trip.....uh, no thanks.

You really need to do some homework on the Celtic teams of the 80's. They were the biggest trash talkers of all.

excuse me? I was there in the 80's. The players may have trashed talk to the other players on the court but they never predicted sweeping another team.

Now that Paul's cheerleading has failed to get the job done, what's next? If the Magic win game 5 and they have to come back to play game 6 in Boston will Paul make another plea to Boston fans and say - "I really mean it this time?" Get the Garden really really extra fired up?

Boston fans don't need to hear TALK about what their players say they are going to do. We just need them to get it done. We also don't need any help in getting fired up.

Paul's the captain of the team not the cheerleading squad.

Really? I don't see nothing wrong with being confident. Nothing Wrong. They could have close it out tonight but we didn't now we have to regroup and take game 5. I can't see the Magic winning 3 in the row over us. Hey guys if the Suns win tomorrow that will make me feel so so so GOOD. go SUNS
