JWill was owned on that play. The reason it is so prominent is because it basically sums up the series. The Magic think this is still the regular season and the C's have turned up the intensity.

No one makes that play in the regular season, BUT THIS IS THE ECF. And you're down 0-2. Get some floor burns so at least you can say you gave it your best shot..

Can you tell me what diving on the floor in that situation without knowing that Rondo was diving between your legs was going to do? What was his next move? Travel? Call timeout? Lay there until Rondo grabbed the ball and they got a jump ball?

He made the right play, Rondo made a spectacular play that he couldn't make 1 out of 5 times. He had no way to know that the man completely behind him was sliding on the floor under his legs, reaching out with that 6 foot arm he has, and pulling the ball back to him. JW is one of the few guys on that team that has shown heart and effort while out there.

I think I have to have a little sympathy for Jason here. There he is trying to get dressed after a game where they didn't play the way they needed to play, and this guy is crowding him. Pretty tight spot in there and when you are in a bad mood after that game I can see why he wouldn't be too happy with getting herded into the corner. He showed more fire there than any of the rest of the team did the whole night. Dwight and Lewis could have learned something…

As far as that play went, I am not sure why anyone would be upset with Jason over that. He's running downcourt to get the ball and Rondo is completely behind him. The proper play is to lean over and pick up the ball for him and try to bring it back to their own side of the court. What would he have done with it all by himself under the other teams basket if he dove for the ball?! If he had done that everyone would have thought it was a stupid play! Then he is laying there forced to call a timeout at best.

This is what I was trying to say before, but you said it better.

J-Will didn't do anything wrong, Rondo just did something unexpected and spectacular.

Well the right basketball play is not what's important here. It was the symbolism of the play. You see Rondo running back, you know it's a 50-50 ball at that point. You have to go to the floor. Sure he might have led to a Rondo layup but you're down 17 in the game and 2 games in the series. You have to get that ball. Period. The crowd predictably went berzerk and your team's heart was ripped out. Sometimes you just have to get to a ball and call a TO, pass it out to a teammate, SOMETHING. You can justify just about any play out there but there are times when it just comes down to you get it done or not..
