I think Paul Pierce has woke up.. or so it seems.  1 minute left in the game.

His play is worrisome; however, I think he has something left.  I still think he has at least one dominant game in him this series.

Nice to see that Dunk and free throws from Paul. We needed those. He will be fine.

And in the meantime, the team will carry him.

I thought near the end when he beat LeBron to the spot and then kinda pulled the chair out from under him by moving out of the way was a key defensive play in the game.

Even when Paul is having an off shooting night, he does his job by spacing the floor and drawing the defense away from others.  The Cavs couldn't afford to disregard him...he can go off anytime...as he proved at the very end of the game.

I'm not sure what your definition of "going off" at the very end of the game was, however he was 1-4 in the second half. He had a dunk of a brilliant feed from Rondo who deserves much more credit than Paul on that play. He had 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 31 minutes of play. Paul was awful tonight in arguably the biggest game of the season. I think that we all better be a bit worried about him, but Paul himself ought to be the most worried.

There were very few plays in that entire game that I remember him really doing much at all other than getting whistled for fouls. We all know he's better than that, but he does have a history of fading away against bigger stronger players like Lebron. I think he'll struggle the entire series. Hopefully we find a way to make it through.

Huh?  You don't think much of defense, I take it...while I think it is one of the most important and most underrated parts of the game.  Oh, well, differences in opinion are what make this blog so good.

exactly. this is just someone who is in denial. this is the playoffs. you better feel sorry for yourself. your suppose to be a leader and your doing s*it. terrible

What is it with Ray Allen fans and their insistence on bashing Paul Pierce? I dont get it.

How is he in denial? Hes not jacking alot of shots. He isnt forcing anything. He knows he doesnt have it right now and he's not forcing anything.

I also think he is being a leader by NOT feeling bad for himself. He knows its about the team and he is trying to do other things to help the team win even though his offense has not been there. I dont think Pierce's leadership can be questioned right now.

That being said, I would start the game with Ray on James tonight and try to get Pierce hot early while keeping him out of foul trouble.

Paul is fine. His slow play can mostly be attributed to being guarded by Lebron and receiving less calls when he drives to the hoop. Even when he has a different defender on him, his rhythm is off because the fast shots he takes against Lebron mess him up.

Personally, I'd rather see him shoot less and just space the floor unless Lebron switches to Rondo. If that happens, then he becomes a focal point again.
