Has he been lazy all year?  Perhaps.  But did he play well last night?  Yes.  And could he keep it up?  Yes.  And if he keeps it up, could we win #18 much more easily?  Yes.

So why dwell on the past at this point?

Because the past is usually a very good indicator of the future.

Yes, Rasheed has, in general, sucked in Boston.  However, there's no need to be revisionist the day after a big win.  He played well last night.  His team may have gotten outscored while he was on the floor, but that's because he was being put out there with lineups with only one starter.

Rasheed was a key early on last night.  If he didn't get hot in the first half, we probably would have went into halftime trailing.

As for his defense, I think it was somewhere in between "great" and "poor".  It wasn't KG-like, but Rasheed did hustle for some rebounds, and overall played solid.

TP!!

Another TP, Roy.

Wallace played hard on both ends. Remember the guy is an old 35, he's just not capable of great defense.

Go Sheed!! Go Celtics!!

True.  But if anyone is a candidate for not following trends, it's Rasheed.

As I said in another thread, I'll be as happy (and as shocked) as anyone if this was more than a one-game thing. I truly hope I'm wrong, because we really need a consistently positive contribution from Sheed.

TP. The thoughts in my mind just appeared before me.

So true. I will be shocked if this is more than a game but it really does come down to if he does show up, we win, so I'm going be a good boy and say my prayers and take my vitamins and hope Santa Claus brings me some early Christmas present, which is a tad bit of good Rasheed consistency for the remainder of this season.

Banner 18 - believe it or not my depend on Rasheed Wallace's ability to show up for 11 more wins before the Celtics go home this year.

I certainly hope it doesn't take Rasheed getting 10 boards for us to win playoff games- because it will never happen.  In his playoff masterpiece he had two.

I only recall one play where his defense was bad.. and that was Lebron coming off a pick and charging full steam at the rim while Rasheed rotated over.  Guess what, no-one on this team can defend that.  Did you see that hustle rebound play where he busted his but chasing it?  Probably not.

Like I told my friend during the game, I don't expect him to keep making shots at that clip, but the fact that he attacked the rim with speed and power, finished around the rim, and hustled, then good things are bound to keep happening.  He looked like a different player out there, and it wasn't just b/c his shots were falling... he looked like the player that this team sorely needs off the bench.

The only lazy aspect was of the team not getting him the ball in the post more often.  I counted 3 times he had good position and they chose to keep swinging the ball around the 3 point line instead of dumping it down to him.  He's honestly our only post player, especially now that they keep double-teaming KG when he makes a move.

I didn't overreact from his performance, so I hope you guys don't as well (in either direction).  However, I was very pleased to see that he still does have it in him because that was really in question before.

which one of his 2 rebounds did he hustle for? I don't believe I'm being a revisionist when I say that he hasn't hustled for or at anything since he's been a Celtic. I give you he shot well, but he does not play hard or beat anyone to a loose ball. I am happy to give the devil his due, but please do not tell me that Rasheed played well. He shot well. Two totally different things.

That's my belief as well and I was admittedly against him ever becoming a C.

Without him playing well we won't get #18 so let's hope for the best.

I relayed my opinion of Sheed to my friend during the last game. If he plays well tonight I will hate him a little less. If he can play well for a few games in the playoffs I can start to think about forgiving him for the regular season. If he brings it for the majority of the playoff games I will completely forgive him for the regular season, because I believe if he can do that we have a great shot at going real deep.

If Sheed plays hard in game 3 and scores 10 and 10 like KG wants him too then maybe lazy sheed is going to be gone for the duration of the playoffs.

No matter what happens, I expect Lazy Sheed to return at some point.  You are right, he is still lazy.
