As far as I've been able to discover, the highest points scored by a player in their playoff debut was Super John Williamson with 38.  Enlighten me if I'm wrong.

Seems like Durant has a decent shot at beating that record.  What do you think?

Definite possibility ... you know he's gonna want to put up big numbers on Kobe ... that said, it will probably be the same for Kobe. That series could theoretically hold many records in store.

I don't think they'll put Kobe on Durant all that much, I think Kobe is going to have to take Westbrook whenever Fisher is in the game.

That's not what I meant ... I mean Kobe is going to want to score a lot of points against Durant and the Thunder. It will be a shootout between Kobe and Kevin, whether they guard each other or not.

Yeah, Fisher will probably guard Sefolosha since he's not much of an offensive threat.  Artest or Odom will guard Durant.

Okay, I see what you're saying.

In that case though he's not scoring on Kobe, but on the Lakers.

Semantics ... it's a scoring duel between the two stars, and I'm sure they'll be literally scoring on each other as well as other members of the opposing team.

The Thunder are hoping your right.

The only way the Lakers lose this series is if Kobe lets himself get sucked into such a duel. The Lakers have an advantage inside with their size, they need to go through Gasol, Odom, and Bynum (if he can give them anything).

Agree ... like the Thunder, I'm hoping Durant's scoring will be too much for Kobe's ego, and he'll get pulled into doing just that. It will be an interesting study in Kobe's maturity ... gonna be a fun game, I think. (I love the playoffs!) ;)
