It never dawned on me that the reason the team looks like they never practiced together is that they don't practice.  There it is. They don't looked like a well Coached team because they don't get coached in practice.  Well all our problems are solved.  Doc is going to start practicing.

1. Now maybe they can put some plays in for Ray.
2. Practice weak side rotational defense.
3. Practice that late in the game play where Pierce gets the ball, waits until the last second and either misses the shot or looks like a rubber man when he turns the ball over.

Doc!  What a brilliant concept.  Let's practice more so we can get better.  Thank goodness you made the adjustment.

In all seriousness.  At this point in the season and under the current predicament, I think it is better to focus on practice and getting better, than focusing on the last games. Celts will be better in the playoffs.

Hey dude, TP for ya there, I just made this post too, didn't see yours, but RIGHT ON, Doc, isn't he  brillant...!!!  What a coach, this practice thing...wait till the other coaches hear about this new "practice" idea...! So, now for all those guys here who said Doc gets all his rookie and player previews and opinions from seeing his guys at practice....righttttt, what practice..? "Virtual practice?"....? Ya, thats the ticket..!

It's common practice to give the "stars" and those that play heavy minutes extra rest, less practice, less intensive practices, just so that they can perform to their optimum during games. This doesn't mean that the rest of the team forgoes practices or that these players don't practice at all. It's a balance that has to be maintained.

Well, that may be a good idea, but how do you "know" that based on what they said at the interview and in the paper..?

Well, that may be a good idea, but how do you "know" that based on what they said at the interview and in the paper..?

Because that's the way it is. And if you read what was actually said, he said "more practice" and if in order to get them to "practice more" they might need to "miss games", then so be it. So you see, there's a balance that has to be maintained. If he needs to give extra practices, he might need to cut back on their playing time... that's the relationship that you're not taking into consideration.

And you're also ignoring the amount of time these guys have spent injured and ignoring the fact that we have some new faces that haven't had the chance to practice much with the whole team.

Well, no i am not, that "playing other guys" has been my theme throughout here....giving our guys, kg, pp, ray extra rest, has been my point always......Walker could have done most of that, sheldon too..!

It is amazing to me that anyone buys this stuff. 19 games to go in the regular season, and now is the time to get in shape two of the team's most important players? And, now is the time to have them practice hard and sit out games? What happened to all of the posts about the full team needing to play a lot of games together in order to regain the chemistry needed to win the championship? What about all those posts here about how they had to have everyone playing so Doc could get the rotations together?

Now, at least based on what Doc says, we are going to have Pierce and Garnett sitting out games so they can practice harder and get ready for the plyoffs. Wonder how many other contending teams are employing this unique new strategy -- the wait until the end of the year to try to get your key players in shape strategy.

Some of the things that have come out of Doc's mouth this year are just unreal.

And, let's not forget the season ticketholders, to whom the Celtics are saying, "Hey. Thanks for being suckers and spending thousands of dollars to watch a team that does not care, and to watch the scrubs play several games because we need to get our veterans in shape in practice and they won't be able to play all of the games down the stretch."

When does this madness end?

Well, not sure if we agree or disagree, not that it matters, but one thing that always stands out in my mind is Barkleys words......"All that matters is to make the playoffs, doesn't matter what happens in the regular season" So, where the team places in the order doesn't matter if your team is injured or tired or hurting, it is nice to have home court advantage, but that still is nothing if you aren't healthy...!  PP, Ray & KG should have been resting after their MANY injuries, well, ray didn't get hurt, but he looked tired for a while, and did have back spasms, with kg and pp, all that they had, they SHOULD have sat a month each.....knee drained, re-injure your surgery repaired knee......hmmmm, sounds serious, do you concur..?   Knee problems make most players retire...!

Shouldn't it be 'we're' and not 'where'? Anyway, I'm kinda torn on this one. I can see how more practice and conditioning would help....but missing games might not be the best idea since the playoffs are only a month away.

Check out ESPN's dime today.

Some rehashing of why the Celtics have struggles here.

I want you to focus on the 2 (two!) negative articles on Lebron.

One that his shot selection stinks and another about how old he really is in basketball years.

Edit: Oops wrong thread! ;)

Yeah and how is that working out this year.  Most of us come from a family of hard workers. There are no prima donnas.  Boston is a working city.

This has nothing to do about being prima-donnas. And honestly, not interested in your hard working family or anyone else's for that matter. I know what these guys have done through their whole careers and how much they've put into the game and under the circumstances they've come out and played at times. I don't need any preaching about hard work...

When does this madness end?

For the record, Doc's made similar comments in each of the last two years. Was it madness when Doc said that the team needed to practice in 2008?
