From Boston.com:

"The fledgling sports talk station 98.5 The Sports Hub made a major lineup change, replacing midday co-host Gary Tanguay with Andy Gresh, effective immediately.  Gresh, who joined the station in a full-time capacity Jan. 7, will slip into the role Tanguay held since the station’s mid-August debut alongside Scott Zolak, an industry source confirmed last night."

I didn't really listen to the midday show, but IMO, Gresh is the worst, just another loudmouth Big Show wannabe.

Andy Gresh is terrible, I'd much rather have Gary.

I am not a huge Gresh fan, but I am glad Tanguay is gone.  His pompous persona, and blatant desire to put himself in every story really turned me off.  I will still be listening to Dale and Holley at that time slot (and then switching to 98.5 for Felger and Mazz), but now I might at least give them a listen during commercials.

(and yes, I am still bitter over Tanguay's inability to even try to understand the CBA)

I've been listening to Gresh on the weekends and I think he's been awesome. I think that was a great decision by the people over at the Sport's Hub. I wasn't into the station when they first went on air but I'm liking it now.

T & R > D & C
Gresh and Zo < Dale and Holley (but better than Tanguay and Zo)
Felger and Mazz > The Big Show
DA = Planet Mikey (Both suck)

Wow. Gresh and Zolak together .. that could make some ears bleed. Both of those guys have terrible annoying voices. I'll stick to D&C for mid day. There still my favortie two on either station.

I hate listening to Gresh.  He's such a loudmouth. Yuck!

I dont listen to these radio stations nor watch the shows.

This forum is by far the place to get the best opinions on the Celtics and I trust/respect the voices here far more then I do most of these media people.

trading tanguay for gresh is like trading jerome moiso for mikki moore. both are pretty brutal.

in all seriousness, it is a slight upgrade. tanguay was absolutely horrendous and made that show unlistenable. at least gresh is halfway decent on football.

this is a good move.  not to mention gresh and zo have great chemistry from their 790am days in providence.

on a side note...i havent listened to eei since 98.5 started.  i heard shepard is no longer at eei.  anyone know why?  i dont care he is gone, i was just curious for the reason.

  • Yup
Gresh isn't that great at presenting his act, but he seems to know a heck of a lot more about which side is up in sports than Tanguay, so I guess that's an upgrade.
Yup

Budget cuts.  He was apparently making too much money as a flash boy, so they cut him free, and farmed out the flashes (like they did on the mid-day show) to some independent company that provides anchors for news/sports flashes.  Meter cannot be sleeping good at night.
