I live in the south so flights to Cancun are very inexpensive. So is there a difference between flying to the carribean and to mexico?
My parents own a travel agency, so I have had quite few trips to Mexico in the last few years. I also went to Mexico last year for my honeymoon. I don't think I could recommend one until I know what your "style" is.
For example: My wife and I enjoy really good food, personal service, and a wonderful pool bar. We don't ever leave the resort for excursions of any type.
So we want the best hotel for the dollar. Some people would rather skimp a bit on the hotel in favor of doing some excursions like swimming with the dolphins, hiking, etc.
So what is your style?
As a suggestion, I would not rule out Cancun based on its reputation of a party city. Yes, if you want to party there is plenty of it there but we never leave the resort and never see anyone partying.
Also, don't go to a place that allows kids. A kid jumping into the pool splashing everyone, screaming at their mother, etc has a way of getting in the way of a time for relaxation.
So let me know if you plan to leave the resort often, and I can give you some great recommendations for Cancun and Riviera Maya area.
