The bench wasn't a problem when they were all healthy. Daniels and House worked well together, IMO. I don't know how Daniels and Nate will do. This might actually make the team worse.

exactly. the bench was alright, i liked the chemistry between house and sheed and daniels when healthy. now its almost like we are forgetting how bad the starters have been and nate robinson's 5'9 dunking abilitys going to put us over the top.

cavs got jamison, a legit 20 ppg scorer, on TOP of being on a 13 game winning streak..

and we were in a huge slump, and trade away one of our best scorers and hustle players.

cool.

If Eddie House is/was our best scorer we would be in big trouble.

It's only been two years!  I ain't ready for a rebuild!

Ready or not, it's coming,  Two years from now it is going to Pierce and the seven dwarves once again.

Two years from now we'll still be starting a pernial All Star at pg and the best low post defender in the league.  And we'll have very valuable expiring deals to trade in KG and Sheed - which will be even more valuable then b/c the cap will be lower by then.

KG & Sheed will be used to bring in another max-contract superstar wing, who will be enticed to play here on account of our high level of talent at the 1 & 5, and sharp-shooting vet role players off the bench (PP & RA).

2010- Finals
2011- 2nd round/ECF
2012- 1st/2nd round
2013- Finals

I'll take that over your rebuilding around youth and lotto picks anyday of the week.  Blowing it up isn't necessary because we already have top young talent in Rondo & Perk, and we'll have the assets to add another max player in 2012.  This ain't 1988.

You're assuming we re-sign Perk; that's anything but a given.  I'd love to see them negotiate an extention this off-season, but doubtful that'll get done because of likely-dramatic changes to the CBA.

That pretty much leaves us Rondo and...  Rondo.

Not that I regret anything that's been done in the past few years to get Banner 17, but we had a lot of expiring deals to work with, and I suspect the only thing keeping the team from adding some younger, talented players was an unwillingness to absorb any bad contracts in return.

I'm also not going to call those expiring deals of KG and Pierce "valuable" until ownership shows the willingness to use expiring contracts to bring back talent.  Didn't happen this year.

Methinks that they're going to try and see how far they can get this year with the core group, and if they fail don't count on us pursuing any free agents with the MLE or any trades that give us contracts extending beyond 2012.  They'll hope we get hot/lucky and maybe can make some noise this year, but failing that it's going to be about clearing the decks and starting basically over in two years' time.

I called this all along.  I knew we weren't going to trade Ray.  I was hoping for it, but I knew deep down, it wouldn't happen.

What I don't like is giving up BOTH J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker in the Nate Robinson deal.  This basically assures that with our young core consisting of only Rondo and Perk and maybe Glen Davis if you want to include him as well, we have no longterm future for this team.

Too bad too cause I was really hoping Bill Walker would be the eventual replacement for Paul Pierce.

This was a complete failure of a trade season.
