What exactly is the identity on offense? I think this is the biggest problem. I think if they established a clear cut identity on offense and stick to it for 48 minutes, things will be easier. It seems as though one quarter is Rondo fast breaks. The next quarter is Rondo pick and rolls. The next quarter is Ray off screens. Other times it's throw it to Perk or Baby on the block. And finally, we sometimes see long stretches of Pierce isolations. If the ship is sinking, fine, but wouldn't it be better to pick an identity and roll with it for the entire game instead of playing 3 or 4 different styles each and every quarter?

Maybe i'm wrong, but this is just my observation.

I think this is dead on, and think it even goes beyond the offense.  The team has an identity crisis in general.  They seem to be stuck between thinking they are still the same team that won it all in 2008, and realizing that team is gone.

The core of this team has completely changed since 2008, despite the fact that the names are mainly the same.  The clear cut 3 top players in 2008 have declined significantly, while other players (Rondo, Perk, Davis, T. Allen, Daniels) have improved, and added to their repertoire.

I think if the team is going to be a contender, regardless of trades, they need to come to grips with what they are, what their strengths are, and what their limitations are...because I get the feeling, they have not all come to grips with the fact that these have dramatically changed (and Doc is one of the worst offenders).

There is still plenty of time to get the chemistry right, but until they get over this identity crisis, this team is going to continue to underperform, and look like mismatched pieces, that never find any consistency.

  • No contaban con mi astucia !!!
I rather have 5 things running at all quarters
and choosing the right time to make each
I used to love rondo back passes to Ray on the break
but last times or Rondo doesnt want to pass ot
ray isnt there to catch and shoot
so Rondo tries and usually gets those 2

Youre right on ISOS because offensive strategy have to
be run by your PG and let him decide the best for your team
Theres no way Sheed will look as a hero even if he starts
hitting those ugly 3s so let Rondo decide not to pass the ball
unless hes on the post or very very very open.
