So long as Richard Dent gets in, I don't care who the rest of the class is.  It's a travesty he hasn't been put in yet.
Defensive players always get the shaft by the HoF, and its even worse for lineman.

Ironically enough, the league selected two defensive players and an offensive lineman among its five modern selections, and yet still shafted Dent.  I truly don't understand it.
True, but one year doesn't reverse how many years of RB, RB, RB, QB, WR, RB.

Ironic, that a Bears fan is justifying Richard Dent being passed over.  If I had any ally here, I figured it would be you, Faf.  There's no way that Dent ranks behind Jackson and Randle.

Also, while traditionally there are more offensive players in the HOF, that tide has been turning.  Last year, four out of six inductees were defensive players (with one of the others being an owner), and in 2008 four out of six of those inducted were on the defensive side of the ball (with another offensive lineman elected, as well).

Woohoo John Randle!  Thought he was definitely deserve it but didn't expect him to get enshrinement this year.

Definitely an interesting class.  Nice to see an offensive lineman get in.  The Hogs finally get a guy in.  Pretty surprising to see Jackson get in but you can make a pretty compelling argument that he was the third best OLB of the '80s behind LT & Tippett.

I honestly expected Dent to finally get in.  I figured after some years on the ballot, this would be the year he got over the hump. Kinda like paying your dues.  I thought Randle would be in the same boat, hence picking Dent over Randle as my guesses  However, I really don't think its cut & dry that Dent was a better talent than Randle at all.  Randle was an incredible DT.  It is ridiculously tough to get over 100 career sacks as a DT.  Just look at the alltime list and tell me how many defensive tackles are in that list?  To me, its amazing what Randle accomplished.  The guy was a bonafide beast that offenses gameplaned around.  Definitely deserving.

I'd need about 100 doctors, a couple MIT microbiologists, all his teammates, all his ex mistresses, and all his ex coaches to sign sworn affidavits saying Jerry Rice wasn't on the juice for me to think he wasn't on the juice. So I don't see him as a no brainer.

I see Emmit, Tim Brown, and probably Carter as no brainers.

I think you misread me, I was just saying that I wasn't surprised he continued to get shafted by the HoF.

He should have been in years ago, and was a much better player than either of those two. Dent had conflicts with a lot of coaches, and probably players from what I've heard about him during the past couple of years.

I think that's hurt him.

  • The good ole days.
Three years in a row of political BS keeping Cris Carter out.  Pathetic.
