Awesome!!! Simply awesome. Besides the Hawks winning...

We drove from Chattanooga, TN down to Atlanta. Along the way I ate nuts - Almonds, Walnuts, Brazil nuts of some sort, and Cashews.
The drive was long, but straight path down i75 and somehow we managed to beat 5 o'clock traffic by about 15 minutes. 2 exits before ours, we ran into it; back to back cars, 5 lanes of traffic, and people forcing their way over b/c they're in the wrong lane. Passed Philips arena and manage to get somewhat lost in Atl. Found some back alley covered in ice, hydroplaned across it, and ended up on a path back to the parking garage. Had a hard time finding our way out of the parking garage since only 2 out of 6 floors had exits. Inside, some guy convinced us to buy some Chinese food - rice, noodles and bourbon chicken and orange chicken. 5 bucks and delicious(fed us both). We got in line early before the crowd started. Waited inline for an hour and it was FREEZING INSIDE b/c there was an entrance door that people were coming in from, and only glass separated us from the freezing weather. (I ended up getting sick b/c I was wearing Celtics shorts as I refused not to REPRESENT team green)
We got our seats early(section 318 - B - 7 & 8) Basically we were right behind the starting Hawks side right above the lcd banner screens.
Lue, Scal and Giddens practiced shooting 3s which flat out amazed me how many Lue and JR made(literally like 20 consecutive each)
Off a guess, I'd say there were bout 20% Celtics fans, so we were clearing outnumbered in chants and booing. My synopsis...

1st half was the Celts bombing 3's. 2nd half, the old vets legs couldn't hold up as those jumpers were now just chuckers. Almost every 3 Sheed attempted in the 2nd half was a clear chuck(shoulders not square, feet not set, and not shooting form) Jamal Crawford was sick with every shot he threw up. Rondo was good, but Horford and Smith did a great job of clogging up the lane. Pierce showed up well in 2nd half, but the game and momentum were gone in favor of the Hawks. And I know shootaround doesn't show ingame talent, but Scal had his shot down, and should've played more minutes than Sheldon and BBD<-Looked fat and slow as expected. Please trade BBD, Danny.
I got to see Rondos fake pass-cradle and rock-pass...ruined b/c BBD has ZERO HOPS.

All in all, still a great game and experience. KG, Quis and EVEN TONY ALLEN were greatly missed. Surprisingly enough, my wife had a GREAT time. She cheered for the Celts and said that she'd rather see them play in Boston so we can cheer along and not be outnumbered. (TAX TIME = Heading to Beantown for a home game) WOOT WOOT!!!

Apologies for the long post, but it was my 1st Boston game and it was pretty much a blast. GO CELTICS!!!

Sounds like a good time.  You're a braver man than I am, eating Chinese food out of a parking garage, but it sounds like it worked out okay. ;)

Is this your first Celtics game?  Basically, we need to know your win/loss record, because if this is your only game, we need you to stay away from the arena if there's a Hawks/Celts playoff game. ;)

Hahaha sorry, i guess my post was a little jumbled. The Chinese food was purchased in the mall. But yea, it was my first game, so...sadly 0-1. But I mean, we had no KG or Quis or Tony. So it was bound to happen in ATL.

that question got me thinking ..........

living in knoxville, i've been to atlanta several times thru the 70's (cowens, jo jo, havlicek) & 80's (big 3 + DJ & co.) to see the Celts play the Hawks.

i also flew up to boston to see the Celts vs Knicks on easter day 1985. ernie grunfeld (played for the knicks and of course here at UT in college) got me tickets. my favorite part of that entire experience of seeing the Garden was when the Celts came out of the tunnel for warmups, "ladies and gentlemen, your World Champion Boston Celtics." everything was understated and done with just the right touch - it was all about the basketball (unlike the blaring T&A circus you have now). i also remember that the Garden was old, but clean as a pin - i thought it was a great place to watch a game.

anyway, i think my record seeing the Celtics in person is 7-0 or close to it (only loss might have been the 1978 game). so ......... when garnett heals up and the Celtics make it to the finals this year, maybe i can hook up here for a ticket for a key game to insure a Celtics win.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

What was he, 5 for 7? Consider yourself lucky to have seen Sheed shoot threes at a high percentage  :P

Don't worry, my first three season as a Celtics fan, I got to go to at least one game a year, but this was during the bad years.  I had a long sad streak of being 0-5, until they started winning again.  Since, I haven't actually gone to many games, so I am probably 3-5.  However, if you count playoffs, I had the opportunity to see Celtics Atlanta game 7 and the Cavs series games 2 and 7, and they all won, therefore for the playoffs I am 3-0.  Maybe I'll just save my money and try to get into playoff games.
