Ok, here's the scenario... it's summer of 1986, Bias passes on, Walton breaks his foot, and Sichting gets his viral infection.

Red is furious but then something happens, a wormhole opens in space/time. In arrives 'Sheed, Daniels, Davis, House, Walker, Scals, & Williams.

Then, Walton, Sichting, Kite, Wedman, Carlisle, and the other stiffs are cut from the roster and the '09 bench steps in to fill their shoes.

Now, how does the future change as a result of this freak of time?

You're not giving them TA?
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Wow..TP for you just for this creative thread...

Well I believe that we win the title in summer of 1987, which would make it a back to back for us. This scenario you create would easily extend our Championship window another year or two.

Player for player, NBA at that time would have a hard time dealing with a 6'11" Three point shooting center that could post up like that as well. And Glen Davis would also be a load. I could imagine him throwing himself around against the Laker front line. Marquis Daniels, Eddie House and the remaining bench players you mentioned would help out as well, with Marquis spelling Bird, DJ and Danny. Eddie would spell Danny. Shelden and Scal would spell Mchale.

And yes like Celtic18 said: Don't forget TA. He could spell Danny only, IMO. He would be at even more of a disadvantage lining up against SF's from back then.

So we'd win in Summer of 87 and possibly Summer of 88. And this would also take a title or two away from the Lakers, which is Great ;D

Just my take.

Cool thread but if McHale never hurt his ankle that year they would have won the title anyway and possibly another after that as the injury plagued him for the rest of his career.

Sorry, forgot about TA. Sure, let's let him through the Stargate as well.

As for McHale, if he'd still broken his ankle, BBD/'Sheed/Scals/Shel would have been able to fill in for him, giving him a full 2 mos rest before slowly rotating back into the frontline. All and all, McHale would have been pretty fresh, come the ECF or finals.

Also, the Pistons would not have made that series a full 7 as 'Sheed/BBD would have sullied up the antics of Rodman and Laimbeer with an equal counterstrike of rough plays. The Pistons would be done in 5 or 6.

The Lakers in 6, as Mychal Thompson would be on a respirator with all the banging, inflicted on him by an angry baby, nevermind an angry Chief or 'Sheed. The Lakers were w/o Kupchak that year so their frontline didn't have the same goon squad-like appearance as prior seasons. Worthy would still have a great series as he drives with Kareem's pivot on the post, anticipating the back cutter pass. Both TA and DJ, however, can really keep Magic in check, thus it would not have the same running game series traits which the actual '87 Lakers were known for against other teams.
